"Audio Sync Issue" 2009-12-07

This is the first time I have ordered something this big and cost on the Internet. I must say it was great. Amazon was great and the delivery company was excellent. TV - Only issue is the audio sync. I have called LG (India??) who have said a tech will call me. When I asked when - I was advised my issue would in put in the queue. I really do like the TV but if they cannot resolve the audio issue, it's going back. Various blogs also report this issue but no one can advise me how to resolve it. I'll have to wait for LG.

This might be a great TV but I don't know as mine does not work. Shipped fast and the box looks fine. Plugged it in and hooked it up . . . basically, I get a very brief flash of a picture, long enough to see something there, such as the menu or source, but not long enough to read anything. I get three to five of these flashes then the unit powers itself off. Very frustrating. Also, though one can buy a TV and have it shipped and delivered in a few days it takes two weeks to have LG send somebody to come look at it. Depending on the outcome of the service visit I'll either update my review or send it back and buy something else.

In a nutshell: Best TV in its class. Sound and picture quality is through the roof, well built, easily customized, and more then affordable.

Let me start by saying I am NOT an LG fan, I would rather have a Samsung! The 240hz (weather it be this set or any set) is a bit on the gimmicky side if you ask me as there is little difference from the 120hz, but that wouldn't stop me from buying this set again, its nice to know you wont be held back by old tech. Great for gaming and sports, as well as movies and HD-TV. The picture quality is simply amazing. The size is perfect for a midsized room, weather it be well lit or very dark. The settings for the TV are awesome because there is an easy preset way to choose picture settings depending on your needs, or an in depth "picture wizard" to perfect the quality and settings (really cool and effective programing that is really upscale). The angle of viewing is very good even up to 45 degrees off from straight on, and the motion blur is, well, nonexistent. The remote control is very good and easy on battery life, but a bit on the simple side and perhaps aimed at children. The sound quality and volume is AMAZING and surpasses any expectation of even a huge TV with massive speakers, they really over did the sound on this thing! Connections on the front side and rear bottom of the panel make for easy installation. The frame and boarder of the screen are glossy but do not give that light glare effect that can distract you from the picture that so many new TVs edges have. For under a grand there is no better TV of its size and quality.

We like our LG 42LH55 very much. While we do not have the digital cable yet, the picture quality is excellent. Sound is good as well. We do notice something in the picture that almost makes the picture look fake and close enough to touch. Kind of wierd and not sure if this is good or bad.

Shipping was fast, however make sure that you look things over when you unpackage the TV. We had a scratch on the back side of the TV. This did not affect the use but hey I bought a "new" TV. Since this TV was purchased from a 3rd party, Amazon stated that I need to contact the 3rd party and the 3rd party said I needed to contact LG for warranty. I just dropped it. I did not like this.

LG is the brand to buy.

Forget about the 2 star review, I first purchased a 2500 dollar lcd for my media room, which spends much time as a pc monitor, I bought a 47 inch lg to replace it, it was 1100 dollars, Since then every tv is being replaced with lg units. The operation is good, the picture is every bit as good as the 2500 dollar set that didn't play well with pc's The HDMI problems are just as much a part of the technology as any problems with the tv, every link has to be 1.2 hdmi, or you will have problems, even then, hdmi can be tricky, The hdmi technology still needs improvement, Just that simple. Not the fault of the TV. I have many issues with other components with hdmi once in a while. Especially on some of the lame HD cable boxes, which are really brand and model dependent. The LG brabd represents tremendous value. A comment made on another review, claiming LG uses inferior components is false. Yes, lg does produce many other brands that are very inexpensive, and they do use lower quality components, if you bothered to look, the LG uses better power supplies. If you want to throw stones, take a look at all sony kdl series tv's, then the xbr, huge difference. This set cost's half of an xbr, and trounces the kdl series, at a lower or equal cost.

Hi Guys, I know it can be exhausting reading/researching all of the reviews about so many different flats. I started a year ago and was pretty convinced with Samsung but glad I didn't get any of them (650, 750...series, etc.) because the reviews a year later are not so hot. I was going to buy Walmart's Visio 55" 120hz this week for $1398 because it looked like a great flat and the reviews weren't half bad either. I went to Best Buy to get a surround sound (research on customer reviews was minimal for these because the flat was tiring enough, lol). Anyway, I saw the LG 55" 120hz for around $70 dollars more. The only perk over the Visio was this one had 70k ratio vs. Visio's 50k. Took it home and with the help of a friend, had the flat up and going an hour or so. Most of my time was invested with centering and installing the support bracket on the wall. I probably could have hung the sucker myself being it is only 70lbs but better to be safe. I hooked up my 5.1 and Blue-ray today. I am not hard to please as I have endured over ten years with an old tv (small tv at that, lol) from 1995 with no surround sound. I really think it's an awesome flat. I haven't adjusted one thing and the flat looks absolutely great. You will want a surround system or sound bar, the sound is just good ole tv quality sound. I will probably try some fine tuning when I get around to reading the manuals. Anyhow, for those that are interested, I bought the Sony DAV-HDX285 Home Theatre system and the Samsung BD-P3600 Blu-ray player. I don't like integrated units because of the possibility of one part going bad. I bought this particular Sony BR because it has the wireless network technology...I am listening to Christmas music right now from [...] as I write this novel, lol. I also use it for my Netflix movies. All of the components mixed together sound just like the movie theater in my living room, of course my living room is close to the size of one, 1200 sq. ft., lol. Anyway, I will report back here if anything goes haywire. One last thought, I didn't buy any of those very expensive warranty packages. The manufacture is good for one year. I figure if your product can make it one year it will probably do well for you beyond that. Merry Christmas all....Dave

Purached the tv for the good price at the local retailer. Took it home and set it up. As soon as the picture was up I was not happy. The colors were dull. And there is not a lot what you can do about it. Contrast ratio is bad too. I had a DVd in and that looked afoul. Big chunks of unformed colors. Even the Blue _ray was not clear and HD as it suppose to be. And I dont know what it was, but motion was sometimes hard to watch on tv. Felt weird for the eyes. I do understand, that just a standard tv channels can not look that good in a huge TV, but this was not good at all. Colors and clarity are deeply off.

So if you just want a big tv without quality behind it and you are just willing to go and waste your money on that, then go ahead!

We returned it and got ourselves Sony VE5 Eco. And as picky as I am- I am happy ! Colors and sharpness are like out of the different world!

Do not buy this tv if you want your satellite remote to control the television. There is no remote code so you will have to use both the tv remote and the satellite remote. There is also only one audio hook up. We tried to hook up a Wii and dvd player and you can only listen to one device at a time so each time you change devices you have to change the cord on the back of the tv.

I purchased this item, it was delivered in less than 5 days. The picture is so clear and bright. The contrast is excellent. It looks as good if not better than a Sony. You will love this TV and you won't beleive it cost you hardly anything. Set up was easy, right out the box. All you have to do is connect the cable and plug in the wall then let the TV find all the cable channels through the menu. That's it. The only difference is that the TV I received has a matte finish (frame) not shiny as in the picture on this site.

i bought this TV from walmart about 8 months ago for $260 and i am very pleased with it. TV tuner picks up all my local channels with an antenna of course. i've used the HDMI with both a PS3 and 360 and both look amazing on it outputting in 1080p. i'm currently using the VGA port on it as a monitor as well for my computer in resolution 1360 x 768 and it looks amazing as well. i'd say if you looking for a good multi-purpose HDTV for a small bedroom this would be perfect and at $218 on here it's a better buy then what i paid for it.

"Great TV for the money" 2009-12-24

This TV works great! It's primarily used as a computer monitor and it's awesome. If you want to run the full 1920 x 1080 resolution you need to buy a DVI to HDMI cable or have some other way of interfacing directly with the HDMI input. However, the VGA input still looks great. I was able to run the VGA at 1440 x 900. As others have mentioned in their reviews the sound isn't as spectacular as the picture, but it's okay for regular TV viewing. I would recommend using a separate sound system. As mentioned above this is a great television for the money, and I'm very satisfied with the purchase.

I'll start with saying that this is my first LCD TV, I already had a 29" 720p Samsung HDTV Slim fit tube TV and is still going. But the 40" looks awsome in my living room, I got this TV for a great deal, it has 1080p and has great sound unlike other LCD TV sets, I have it hooked up to a small 2.1 system for when watching games or a movie, but for regulat TV watching the speakers are just fine, I haven't tried a bluray movie on it as I'm still waiting for my Bluray laptopSony VAIO VGN-NW270F/S 15.5-Inch Silver Laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium) to arrive. The only feature I don't like about this is the Dynalight control, it keeps changing the brightness of the image depending of what you're watching, not sure who thought of this idea but the effect is awfull, fortunatelly this is an option you can disable. All things considered this is a great TV set at an affordable price, not sure if a few hundred dollars for all those fancy options would make a noticeable difference, I'm very happy with my purchase and would definately recommend to anyone looking for a 40" 1080p LCD TV, plus I trust that being a Toshiba set it will last, will update the review if anything goes wrong, I've had it for 2 months now.

Overall its a great HDTV at a surprisingly low price, do not let the brand name of Toshiba fool you, it is a very good tv.

Pros: Good black level with little backlight bleeding, lively colors, good image quality and virtually no visually noticeable lag while watching 720p broadcasts of hockey games even as a 60hz TV. Bezel is nice and simple, could have been a little thinner.

Cons: None really, the glossy bezel is a dust and finger print magnet though.

Other: As with every other tv on the market, the factory calibration is garbage, just do a little research online and you shall find several configurations to make the colors correct. As mentioned before, the speakers are a little lacking, but not by much. Buying a 40" HDTV speakers should be the least of anyone's worry, as they should be combined with a home theater system for sound. Most importantly, watching movies and sports on this Toshiba from 8-10' away, the picture is almost flawless.

We ordered this cybermonday - great deal. The touch of red is so slight that you don't notice it at all. The TV is sleek with great picture/sound quality. We did upgrade out cable box to an HD version as well. What impressed us most is that we could schedule our delivery with the carrier - this was included in free with prime membership. Also, the gentlemen who delivered it via van offered to hook it up. We tipped them just because and it was sure a lot less than paying for the other optional services offered. We bought a TV stand specifically for the TV so it was here and ready to go upon delivery. Best move ever!

I bought this TV last year after my Olevia 42 1080i stopped working after a year. After a research, I decided to spend little more and buy a brand name, 'cause no one would fix or couldn't get parts for Olevia. This TV was more than an upgrade, I had this now for more than a year and I am still amazed. my computer hooks up to it via hdmi, watch HD TV programs and play ps3 with great quality. I paid $2000 last year and it dropped now to $1500 range, but I don't regret buying it too early. It was worth it. It's a great TV for the money.

When ever I make a purchase from the internet I have already done extensive research on the product most of than time I end up knowing just as much if not more that the sales person. I have it connected to my PS3 and I've played a few games and watched a few Blu-ray movies with my 7.1 sound system at least while the sound was working.

Words can not describe the experience some parts of the movies were so crisp that you feel like your right there in the set while they filmed it. One of the reviews mentioned that it was almost like 3D I disagree it was more like 4D!!!

The service was on point, and I did not have any problems to mention I would not have a problem recommending anyone to this company. The Samsung LCD is among the top dogs, in my opinion, and this is coming from someone who has done literally months of research.

"Great TV, for a year, then POOF!" 2009-12-22

I loved this TV from the second I got it. My first flat screen/wide screen/etc. Some initial headaches were brought on by the VGA (the thing the salesman talked me into getting it for), After plugging in the VGA from a laptop to watch netflix, the screen would go black after about 5 minutes, every single time. After hours on the internet, I gave up on that. After that, everything was fine for a year. Then, long story short, a few months after the warranty expired, the screen flickered after a few minutes and went black. The sound still worked, but no picture. Turning it on and off again worked, but again, the screen went black. I know have a wonderful black rectangle in my newly re-finished room. Thanks for nothing. I'm thinking maybe a Philips next time.

Then you can find someone in the family or an MIT student to launch all the features. The only negative is it does not do the dishes.

Purchased this TV in March 2009. Worked fine until September. 6 months.

Now, randomly, a grey / blank overlay screen is popping up and could stay there for hours.

Power off/on does not remove the blank screen.

Happens for any source (TV/DVD/etc).

I have seen this defect with other customers on the web.

So based on my experience i would NOT recommend this TV set to anyone.

I will post back to tell about Samsung customer service (if good or not).

UPDATE: After almost 3 weeks, still no news from Samsung customer service. I left 3 voice mails to their Houston representative (Complete Electronics Specialist, phone 281-477-3507) and these guys never answer their phone neither return voice mails.

In the meantime my issue is getting worse: the blank.grey screen is now always there. So I will not purchase a Samsung TV again and do not recommend this TV to anyone.

2ND UPDATE: Technician finally came. Replaced 2 boards. Said "common issue for Samsung". Now it's working OK.

I had this TV for about 8 month. I bought it at Walmart for about $700, you could get cheaper now. This TV has the most beutiful image quality. Although it says 720p, but it feels like you are watching 1080p. The sound is good. The menus are easy to use. Watching football on this TV blows me every time I watch it. You won't regret it for having this TV. I think This TV is great for bedroom. All I can say is "I love my samsung TV" period.

I've had this tv for over a year and for the most part it's ok. The picture is excellent. The audio is problematic. At times it does not play well with digital channels. Samsung has replaced the motherboard once but that didn't help. The problem occurs when there's a power outage. The set needs to be factory reset to cure the problem. There's a thread on this in the CNET forums and another one on the [...]. The key words to look for are "robotic sound". I believe this to be the case with most of Samsung's TV's. There's alot of unhappy people out there that think Samsung is not doing anything to resolve the issue.

"Great TV-Buy from anyone but Amazon" 2009-12-30

Purchased this TV from Amazon. The TV is great, no problems. All problems were a direct result of Amazon. In spite of Amazon indicating the item was in stock,the order was not filled for 5 days after the order was placed. When I checked on delivery status 9 days after placing the order, I discovered the price was reduced almost $100.00 prior to the order arriving in my city for delivery. Amazon advised that if I had contacted then within 7 days of placing the order they would have honored the new price. They weren't interested in the fact that the item had not been delivered and it had just arrived in my city 9 days after the order was placed. It also didn't seem to matter that it took them 5 days to fill the order, yet I could not cancel it when I was advised of the 5 day delay. This item was available at other vendors for similar price, but I went with Amazon due to past good experiences, never again.

I ordered the TV after a lot of research and it was delivered Sunday before Thanksgiving! Not a mark on the box but after unpacking the shipper's agent and I noticed the screen was smashed along the bottom edge of the screen. All the foam and the box was perfect. It looked as if someone had reboxed it and sent it out again after it had already been returned. Long story short, the shipping agent took the set back with him after we refused it. We waited two weeks for the next one and it came in perfect...we set it up and all is well...well, not everything...we received an email that we needed to return the broken tv to Amazon...a quick call to customer service and all is well again...well, not everything...we received another email today(three weeks later# giving us ten days to return the broken TV or we would be charged for it...no problem...another quick call to Amazon and we were promised #again) that this would never happen again. What do you want to bet we get charged for the broken TV? We're not holding our breath.

The TV was Consumer Reports "best buy" so I (not having a test lab) believe they did due dilligence and now that the tv is in place I'm completely satisfied with it. It is a room killer if you live in a small house...but who cares? The picture is incredible and it's a stylish set. All you need is a good Blueray (PSIII) and a sound system to make the world right.

I've had this TV for about a month now and absolutely love it. I have a 40" Samsung 550 TV as well. A family member who lives next door has a 46" Samsung 650 series so we we're pretty familiar with the Samsungs and that is what we were looking at when purchasing this one. After looking at the prices for 52" and 55" Samsung 650 series I kept coming back to look at this one as it seemed like an incredible value compared to those. I was actually concerned because the price was significantly lower. However, I have owned Toshiba, Hitachi, and JVC TVs in the past and have been pleased with the Japanese TV companies in the past so I bought this from Amazon sight unseen. I had read a lot of reviews on the net on the Toshiba Regza models and most appeared to be positive.

The TV gets shipped via an air freight company and was delivered to my house as scheduled. I elected to not have them do anything but help get the TV in the house and unboxed and setup everything myself. Packaging was standard as was the same as the Samungs. (remove the white clips from the bottom of the box and lift the top off)

I placed it on a solid stand and did not feel the need to attach the recommended safety straps. It is solid on the pedestal and is not going anywhere with the location I have it at.

When I first powered on the TV I was very happy to see a prompt asking me if the TV was being used in a store or at home. I chose home for the obvious reason. Many manufacturers crank up the brightness and contrast to make them look better at the store. Unfortunately, this is the default out of the box experience for other manufacturers. I remember having to turn these down on the Samsungs. While this was a small thing, it was greatly appreciated. Here are my experiences with other areas of the TV:

APPEARANCE

The TV looks beautiful. A solid black border would have suited me just fine. However, this TV has a light gray gradient on the edges with a checkered pattern. From the viewing position you really do not notice it and it certainly is not a factor when watching TV but it looks like art in that regard. There is an illuminated Toshiba logo centered at the bottom of the TV. If the illumination bothers you then you can disable it in the preferences. Overall it looks a little nicer than my plain black Samsung.

PICTURE

Excellent picture. Sharp crisp detail. I played Blu-Ray discs through a Samsung 3600 player I had connected to it and they looked awesome. When I purchased this TV from Amazon I got a free Toshiba BDX2000 Blu-ray player with it and moved the 3600 to another room and used it after a couple of days. No difference in the picture between the two. I've also watched much HD programming via satellite as well as some SD material too. I hooked my Roku up and streamed SD content from it as well. Regardless of source, the TV performs beautifully. The detail is razor sharp, the colors look true, and the picture continues to impress me. I watch a LOT of movies via HD premium channels as well as Blu-Ray discs. I was really concerned about an LCD over a plasma in this regard but have not bit disappointed in this regard. My other major concern was that movies would look more video-like as opposed to movie-like. On the 46" Samsung my personal opinion is that things appear to look more video-like. On the 40" Samsung not so much so, but neither look as good as this Toshiba in my opinion. Of course sitcoms and your standard TV fare look great on the Toshiba as well. Bottom like is that I think this Toshiba looks better for movie buffs. I also noticed that the depth of field on the 40" and 46" Samsung do not seem as accurate as on this TV. Depth of field looks normal here and perspective looks accurate to me. I don't see how anyone can knock anything with the picture on this set. It has a good as anything I have seen in the stores.

GLARE

Toshiba says this TV has a "CrystalCoat high contrast screen coating". The best way I can describe the look is by comparing a laptop screen that is glossy vs. one that is matte. This TV definitely falls into the glossy category. The tradeoff between glossy vs. matte has always been glare with vivid, bright, beautiful display vs no glare and a more muted picture in that regard. No TV made is going to have zero glare. This is just part of the way light behaves in regard to reflective surfaces. I have seen complaints that this TV has too much glare. Those who feel strongly in that regard might be a candidate for a set that is more matte-like. However, what we are really talking about here is glare when dark images are displayed on the screen. For example, if you are watching a sitcom or things that are generally more lit then you aren't going to see any glare even with the windows open and the sun shining in. The difference comes when you have something like the Dark Knight playing where you have many night scenes and dark environments. In those cases, you are going to see glare from any light sources that give off any light in front of the TV. The bottom line is that glare may be worse here than on other LCD TVs. However, and this is a big however...this is also what makes this picture look a lot better in my opinion. So if you choose to go the less-glare route you are also sacrificing something picture-wise to accomplish this. It will not look and bright, vivid, and beautiful. Personally, I do not find the glare to be an issue.

BLACK LEVELS

A couple of the reviews I had read stated that the black levels on this TV were not good or accurate. This is simply not even close to true. Black levels are excellent. Black levels here are better than the Samsungs in my opinion. Toshiba states that the "DynaLight Backlight Control" automatically adjusts the backlighting to help in this regard and I believe them. To me, this looks more like a plasma in this regard that other LCD TVs. Black levels have always been an issue with LCD TVs to some degree but it looks like Toshiba has resolved that issue here. My last 50"+ TV was rear projection and I was worried that the black levels (especially in movies) might be an issue with the new LCD TV but it simply is not the case.

SOUND

First, I do not use the internal sound. I set the volume level to 0 after 5 minutes. I find it hard to fathom that someone buys a 55" TV and uses the internal speakers. At this size I would expect must people have a home theater audio setup. (I do) The few minutes I listened to it through the internal speakers, I did not notice any problems so I cannot speak to the internal audio. Bottom line, if you do not have a 5.1/7.1 setup outside of the TV, do yourself a favor and get one.

FEATURES

First, you normally do not see LCD TVs with 120Hz at this price point but you get it here. Toshiba uses the backlighting to simulate 240Hz performance but personally I haven't seen any of this motion blur in sports even on my 40" Samsung without 120Hz. I have watched HD NFL and NASCAR and just have never seen it on any of the LCD TVs I have seen. Tons of people and reviews have talked about it and I guess that where this would occur, 120Hz is going to help.

Next, another feature you do not see on sets in this price range and many that cost much more and that is the ambient light sensor which can automatically adjust the picture based on the room lighting.

Finally, this TV supports 1080p24. If you do not know what that is or why it is important then do a google search. For those of us that love movies, it is a great feature.

I won't go through all the features as you can read them in the description or by downloading the user manual. However, I have to say that this TV has more (and friendly) options in the menus and has some really cool stuff that many of the Samsungs do not. (ambient light sensor mentioned above for example). Overall this set has every feature I have seen on other TVs and more. Again, at a great value.

VALUE

I paid $1631 with free shipping and I see it is now down to $1573. Comparable Samsung TVs will set you back $500-$800 more. Personally, I found this set to exceed my expectations and feel it is better that the Samsungs. Add the price difference in it because a huge value in my opinion. Personally, I am not sure why Toshiba is currently selling at these amazing price points but I am glad I jumped onboard while they were. I assure you that if you buy a Vizio, Insignia, or Sharp LCD TV at this price point then you are getting a sub-par TV. You can spend more to get the LG, Sony, or Samsung but I don't believe the extra money is buying you a better TV. Best Buy is still selling this TV for $1999 so buy it here from Amazon.

OVERALL

There is a reason Consumer Reports rated this the #3 TV Overall and the #2 Recommended TV in the 52-inch and larger category. It is a fantastic TV and I think it is being overlooked at the moment only because Samsung and LG are doing so well at the present. If you are reluctant about the price being lower than other TVs with less features, do not be concerned. I would not hesitate to buy this TV again and would recommend it highly to others. I'd been resisting the urge to replace my 10-year old Toshiba 56" projection TV that I gifted away rather than try to move to our new home earlier this year. The price and quality equation finally came together with this 55" Toshiba HD LCD TV. I thought I might settle for something smaller but my adult son, the Techy, convinced me that his only regret was settling for something smaller when he bought his HD/LCD.

The picture quality is great...particularly on cable HD but certainly looks better in every respect and on every channel than our old projection TV. I was amazed at how easy it was to set up with HDMI cables. I think it actually took me longer to install the safety cables (not furnished but recommended) to keep this big boy from tipping over. My wife was relieved and pleased that three thin HDMI cables replaced the unsightly clumps of wire spaghetti that used to live behind our old projection TV that linked TV, cable box, and DVD player. If this TV gives the 10 years of trouble-free service that our last Toshiba provided, it will have been a great investment in entertainment.

This Set replaced a 13" Samsung flat tube that was great in its day. So far, great trouble free set. DVD's look solid and I'm not using HDMI. Plan on adding blu-ray and will consider Vizio in the mix when I do. Only viewing angle problems experienced when looking up from floor. From the bed or a chair no problems at all. Sound is a little lacking but fine for the bedroom. An outstanding buy for the money. Found my set at Walmart and the price has dropped since purchase. Amazon pricing is pretty close. Recommend where HD is desired, but you don't have the room for a 37" or 42".

We were looking for a relatively inexpensive HD television to replace a small 13" RCA CRT in the bedroom. Since we already own other Vizio equipment that we are quite happy with, we decided on this model. It has a good assortment of inputs: 2 HDMI, VGA, Component, Composite, SVideo, and coax. We've found the picture quality from both our HD cable box and our Blu-Ray player to be very nice via HDMI. We haven't experienced any viewing angle issues. SD signals are generally good as well. There is some fuzziness, but that's normal when viewing SD content on an HD set. Most of the time it's barely noticable. The sound, however, is not as good. It sounds a bit hollow and tinny, no matter how we adjust the bass and treble. I think our old RCA actually had better sound, and that's the only thing that stops me from being able to give the Vizio 5 stars.

In short, if you can get around the slightly dissappointing sound, the VA220E is a very good choice if you're looking for a smaller HD set with a lower price tag and an excellent picture.

I purchased this TV for my 13 year old after repainting his room and kicking out his younger brother. The picture is clear and very vibrant. Side and angle viewing is also good. The audio has an SRS surround mode which sounds great at higher levels. At low levels it can be a bit empty with little bass but if you turn it up great spatial sound comes through. Remember, when you are looking at these TV's at your local WalMart what you are seeing is a direct feed digital signal, DO NOT expect this kind of quality unless you have high def reception or are watching a DVD. Also, depending on how your cable provider sends it's signal you may still see black bars on the top and bottom of the pictue. I spoke with Vizio Support about this and they were very helpful and explained. To be honest, my old 19inch CRT still has a bigger and better picture for normal television viewing!

I purchased this televion once my old standard definition CRT television died right in time for the digital transition. After doing some comparison shopping I happened upon this TV and chose it to replace my old 19" CRT. The first thing you'll notice about this television is its relative weightlessness, while common for flat screens is a nice change from cumbersome CRT's. Also setup is very easy and once hooked up to an HD digital cable box through one of the two HDMI ports the picture quality difference is immediate.

Initially the television was connected to my HD cable box via the coaxial port on the back of the TV. Surmised from many a HDTV review I expected standard definition shows to look worse once connected via HDMI but I guess going from coaxial (the bottom of the barrel) to HDMI (top of the line) provides an increase rather then decline, even in the visual integrity of standard definition shows and HD shows are on whole new level. Vibrant colors, nice crisp images and great line quality are the qualities sorely lacking from standard definition programing and televisions. Also I had no problems with the viewing angle what so ever. If I had to down this television for anything, it would be that the audio quality is lacking (an apparent hallmark of smaller flat screens) but i'd recomend an external speaker setup to remedy this. Besides that small nitpick this set has my stamp of approval.

If you're searching for an HD-TV television that provides great value without sacrificing quality i'd fully recomend this set.

"Sony XBR9 Rocks!" 2009-12-29

I had owned a Sony 36" XBR WEGA TV for years and was very happy with its performance, but decided it was finally time to upgrade to a HD LCD. After researching them for a couple months, I had narrowed it down to Samsung and Sony in the $1,300-1,500 price range. I choose the Sony because the picture looked more natural. I have to agree with others that reviewed the Samsung that the colors were almost too bright and the off angle view was not as sharp. I couldn't have made a better choice. This TV is amazing. The picture is clear and the HD is great, especially with blu-ray and PS3 games. I can sit back at my dining room table and view the picture from a 35 degree angle with no dark spots or distortion. I only have to have the brightness at a 40 percent level. I've read some reviews that you have to really tweak the picture settings to get the picture right, but I thought it was just fine right out of the box. The pre-set picture modes are easy to toggle through for movies or regular TV, and the 240 hz refresh rate makes games, action movies, and sports flow smoothly without any blur. As for the sound, many people complain about LCD TVs in general, but I thought this one was good. I do have to have the level turned up to 30 and it lacks some bass, but it's much better than I had expected. Lastly, the inputs and outputs are plenty. Has a digital out so I could hook into my stereo. I'm looking forward to hooking up my ethernet cable to explore the video and wiget capabilities.

Bought this TV through the Amazon Warehouse deals. Said it had blemish on the housing. But found the TV in perfect condition. The box was resealed in original packing. Love this TV especially there is no blurred in fast action motion picture. The 240 hrz is something people should pay real attention to. The picture quality is phenominal. I have my bose system hooked on to the TV and it gives life like movie experience. This is a great TV!!!

We purchased this TV locally (not from Amazon) & it has an amazing picture & the sound is great too. The only complaint I have is that the On Screen TV guide will not set up. It fills in the channel labels but, no program description. I know it takes a few days to fill in but, it's been a week or more. Our XBR6 did all this (in about 3 days) without a problem.

We love the Guide! We find ourselves running to another room & checking out the Guide on our XBR6 so we can watch it on our XBR9!

Does anyone have a "fix" for this? We've re-checked our setup several times.

I bought this television before Christmas Eve for about [...] from Sears with Bing Cashback. It was such a great deal. Out of the box, the picture quality is not great because you have to adjust the settings. I recommend going to [...] and looking up Samsung settings. I was able to use a setting for one of the Samsung televisions and the picture quality looked great. On the PS3, Modern Warfare 2 looks awesome. So does Dragons Age I might add. I think the people who are complaining about picture quality are not putting in the proper settings to show the true picture quality of the television.

In the last three months of this year (2009) I did hours worth of research deciding on which 2 LCD TV's to buy: a 46" for myself that I planned to do all kinds of crazy things with including hooking up my computer via DVI->HDMI, using a roof-mounted antenna for the over-the-air tuner, using with a HTPC, etc; and a 40" for my mom and dad that would simply offer great picture quality.

For myself, I bought the Sony 120hz 46W5150 Bravia Engine 3 1,000,000:1 contrast; and for mom and dad, this TV, ths Samsung 40b500.

The result is that this TV (Samsung) is perfect for mom and dad, and in truth probably would have satisfied me too.

Both are exceptionally vibrant and clear. My Sony TV offers a few shades deeper (almost perfectly pure) black level, but this Samsung is almost there with deep/rich blacks. If you are downgrading from a 120hz TV to the Samsung, you will notice the lack, but if you've only ever had a CRT or 60hz LCD I do not personally believe 120hz justifies a lot more money, but this is personal preference. Speakers are comparable. My Sony offers 8+ inputs including 4 HDMI, this Samsung only has 2 HDMI and 1 component/composite shared.

I could go on an on making technical comparisons, but I think the most helpful info I can share is that, having lived with and loved my Sony W-Series for a few months (a mid to top of the line unit), this Samsung offers 80-90% of the black level, contrast, and beautifully sharp image at about 50% of the price.

The low number of inputs is not an issue if you are aware of it beforehand. I hooked my parents cable box up to the component, their DVD player to the HDMI 1, and the Roku HD player to HDMI 2. If they get a blu-ray player, it will replace the DVD player on HDMI 1.

Some people have complained about it only having 2 HDMI ports, but that is all I need (1 for DVD and 1 for cable). The only draw back on this is the sound. The sound is acceptable, but it's not great. A sound bar or home theater can fix that - but it would be nice if it wasn't necessary. Samsung, like most manufactures, has moved to rear/downward facing speakers and I that that is a mistake as they cause echoing and greatly reduced sound quality. I have an older Sumsang 32" with front facing speakers that sounds much better.

If you are looking for a big name brand LCD at a budget price, this is a good by for the price.

Overall excellent quality LCD TV. Sound could be better but the picture quality is top notch with plenty of adjustments. The options allow you to turn down or turn off the 120hz refresh rate. Also you can chose between HD size 1 or HD size 2 which allows the signal to be scaled to 95% of the image (in case of edge noise) or the full 100%. Swivel base is sturdy and useful and the remote is ok too. For those of you who are torn between a 32" and 37" for a medium size bedroom get the 37". Originally I purchased the 32" G1 which was a mistake. I'm about 9 feet from the set and 32" was too small for sports games the 37" is spot on. Can't go wrong with this top of the lineup model from Panasonic. As always Amazon is awesome, returned and received the new TV all within a few days.

I have had this set for about 2 months now. Limited by space to 37". Amazon delivery was prompt and set arrived in good shape. My main criteria for purchasing was picture quality; I am not too interested in home theater or surround sound. I'm very happy with the set overall--I'm using a component video connection, not HDMI, and colors and sharpness are excellent. There are many color and picture adjustments available so that you can fine-tune to your liking; I would definitely back off from most of the factory presets, especially brightness. Doing so will give you more natural color rendition and may prolong the life of your screen. Sound quality is OK for my needs, which are minimal. I don't notice any buzzing or distortion. I called Panasonic a few times when setting up and experienced short wait times and helpful answers. I am very glad that the screen has what might be called a semi-matte surface. Many newer sets are now using a shiny, clear glass overlay, which will reflect any nearby light source much more noticeably than the matte.

On the downside: no USB port, only audio-out port is optical. There is some color banding in gradient color backgrounds, but this is apparently quite common in flat-panels and mostly visible in commercials, so who cares.

If overall picture quality is the main driver for your purchase, this is an excellent choice.

This HDTV is the only one that I could find anywhere that would fit into my 36 inch space. All other units were about a half inch too big, so this is the only one I could have bought. I am totally happy with the Panasonic LCD TV. The Amazon price is very competitive, and I received the TV without delay. I chose to go to the freight carrier to personally pick it up, however I could have waited another day for delivery to my home.

I am very familiar with Panasonic and know that they are a reliable manufacturer and deliver excellent products. This TV is no exception, the hook up is simple, however I recommend purchasing an HDMI cable since it does not come with one. You do not need an expensive cable at all, as the inexpensive HDMI cables work fine.

I use DirecTV, and with the TV connected to my satellite receiver with an HDMI cable, I receive an excellent digital picture on all channels without subscribing to the HD service.

You will need to check your existing satellite receiver to be sure that it has an HDMI port, otherwise you should upgrade to a newer satellite receiver with an HDMI port. Without the HDMI hookup, you will only receive analog signals and not the clear, digital signals that will make your TV viewing much more pleasurable.

Unless you are a hardcore TV fanatic, you'll be delighted with the Panasonic LCD 1080p 120hz g series TV hooked up with just an HDMI cable to your satellite receiver. The satellite receiver does not have to be an HD compatible receiver, it just needs to have an HDMI port.

I highly recommend this product and did quite alot of research prior to my purchase. You will not be disappointed with Panasonic or Amazon.com.

I have had this TV for a bit over a month now. I have no complaints whatsoever. The picture is fantastic, clear and vivid. The color is true and the picture adjustments seem limitless. Set up was a snap. All my devices work flawlessly -dvd, vcr, computer, Roku etc. I love this TV. It really is next generation and at the price represents the best value for me. I looked at many, many HDTV offerings before selecting the Aquos. I am very glad I did. It's better than most costing hundreds more. The only negative I can find is the sound quality. It is a little weak but no more than others in this size. It is a very small gripe because I run the sound through a set of compact computer speakers with a sub and it sounds great.

Have had this set for about 5 months now and am happy with it. PC mode is really easy and the picture is great. Initial setup was simple, even though the owners manual was worthless. I like the OPC feature a lot as this is in an area of my house that has frequent light changes. My one gripe is about the model itself. There is no real support on the Sharp website and thus no support for me to use my Harmony One remote. I wanted to just check for software updates on the Sharp site; "model not found" was all the website said no matter what format I typed in. The store I got mine from said this was the newest model, but now I wonder if it is just a "gap" model. Anyway, great TV for the money, I just wonder if I should have got the Samsung I was looking at first....

I saw that Amazon was selling this product and it was a really good price. I had been looking around and was not happy with the small Televisions I saw at the stores - they just seemed cheap. The picture was bad and the sound was poor. Based on specs of this new screen I decided to order it, sight unseen.

Man am I happy! First - the picture is beautiful. The colors are not fake, the skin tones are great and the picture is razor sharp. I am very picky about what passes for quality these days on flat screen panels, and this one is amazing.

Sound is bit pitchy, but its not horrific. I hooked it up to my computer to test that and things were amazing as well - was able to play FPS action without any problems.

Delivery was great. I ordered on Friday morning and had it ready to go on Tuesday Night.

I will come back if there are any issues but so far so good!

This is a welcome addition to my bedroom, has ample inputs for my sattelite reciever, DVD Player, and even a computer. Simple to set up, pretty much programmed itself (it takes about 15 to scan all channels and signal types)and looks great. The hidden speakers are quite cool because they do not require extended case size to accomidate them. Obviously this does not have booming bass or anything like that, but is sounds good. The energy settings allow for dimming the screen, which is handy in a dark room. The only think I wish it did was display 2 inputs at once, for example show the computer and the TV input at the same time. But I am frugal and this does not detract from my enjoyment of this TV.

This is an excellent HDTV. Great picture, easy set up. If I have any complaint, it is that the speakers are small, and so the sound is a little weak. I am not sure if any flat screen TV of this size would accommodate louder speakers, and this is a minor gripe really. We have the unit mounted on the wall about 10 feet from our bed, and the picture is great and the sound adequate except for quiet segments. I may get add on speakers.

All in all a great value and I love the quality of the picture -- all colors are vivid and clear. We use the TV for on air broadcast signal only (no cable).

The LG 22LH20 22-Inch 720p LCD HDTV is great. I have it in my small bedroom and the size is perfect. I don't think I would go any larger. The setup was easy. I have a coaxial cable connecting from the outside to this TV. All I had to do was automatically scan for channels and I was able to pick up well over a hundred so that tells you how good the digital tuner is on the 22LH20.

Positives:

- Elegant design

- Easy setup

- Strong digital ATSC and QAM tuners

- Beautiful, crisp, and clear picture

- Pretty good black levels, although I wasn't expecting much with an 8,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Even so, the picture is amazingly sharp.

- 5ms response time. You don't see many response times like that on TVs this size.

- Good amount of picture settings and adjustment options

- Great sound. I see several people on various sites complaining about the sound. Why? The sound is extremely clear and loud. I have my TV's volume at 10 and that's more than sufficient for me. The highest this TV goes up to is 100. What I would suggest to everyone is to follow these steps to get great sound: MENU > AUDIO > Clear Voice II: ON > Level: 6(Max.) > Sound Mode: Standard(User) > Treble: 100 > Bass: 100

- The energy saving features. Yes, this TV has a sleep timer where you can set it to turn off at a set number of minutes. However, you can go a step further by setting the TV to turn on and off at a specific times. For example, I have my TV set to go off Sun.-Sat. at 12am. You can also set it to turn on on particular days of the week, a specific time, input, channel and volume level.

The Energy Saving feature also can dim the brightness of the TV or turn the screen completely off so that all you hear is the sound of the TV. Great feature especially if you are one of those people who needs the sound of the TV to go to sleep. This can be accomplished without you wasting energy because the screen is on and you don't have to worry about the light of the TV distracting you.

Negatives

- Only 1 HDMI port

- Some backlight bleed at at the top and bottom of the screen. Only noticeable, somewhat, in dark scenes and more noticeable when the picture is completely black.

- Viewing angle isn't the greatest. The picture color washes out a bit from extreme side angle views but not enough for it to be unwatchable like I've seen on other HDTVs of this size.

- The screen is not exactly 22in. but about a half inch less than that. I know it's common for LCDs' diagonal inches to be inexact but it's annoying nonetheless.

The LG 22LH20 is my second LG HDTV and like my other one I'm very please with it. LG doesn't get it's due because of the brand being eclipsed by brands such as Sony, Samsung and others. But it seems like no matter what I buy from this company, I'm rarely if ever disappointed. The LG 22LH20 is no exception. This is a wonderful little TV for small bedrooms and dorm rooms. I highly recommend it.

Ordered this to mount on my bedroom wall. Won't work with a low-profile mount because the cables stick straight out the back, but will work with other mounts. Features are great:

However, picture looks a little dark when you're looking at it from a little below it's straight-looking plane of view. So, make sure to mount right in front of you or angle it. Otherwise, it's great. It's only 21.6" and not a full 22". I saw it at Best8uy for $30 more, so you get a deal here.

I have had my 42" Vizio 1080p for just over two years. I LOVED the tv when it worked. The picture and sound was great. One morning I woke up and went to turn the tv on when I realized it was dead. No warning, no nothing. The tv would turn on and off, but I had no picture and no sound. After some research I discovered this is a common problem with Vizio. Do your research before you buy. I will never buy another Vizio bc now I am stuck buying another LCD 2 years later. What a waste of money.

PS-When I called Vizio they were no help. They knew exactly what our problem was, but because it was over 2 years couldn't help us. They need to fix this problem on this end and not make tvs that die after a few years.

I should say right up front that this is my first HDTV, so you can decide for yourself whether to lend any credence to this review. But my wife and I love this TV and are very happy with our purchase. The picture is vibrant and there is no glare as there was with our old school TV. The remote is simple and very easy to use. The TV is very light and easy to maneuver. The sound is pretty good. In fact, it threw us off at first because we were both hearing sounds that came from the other side of the room. We also got the set for $50 less than other retailers PLUS there was no tax and no shipping, so we easily saved over $100. We paid $415 for a 32". Lastly, the TV came in about 2 months sooner than expected. We are VERY pleased with every aspect of this purchase.

I found a good deal on this beast around Black Friday. It does a fine job as a computer display with a few idiosyncrasies. Ideally, I would think you'd want to use the hdmi input as it is a digital input, however Vizio in their vast wisdom has denied us the ability to adjust all the settings necessary to stretch the desktop to fit the screen V-Size is disabled. You can adjust H and V position and H-Size and almost make it fit the screen, just a small black band at the top (or bottom, I suppose) of the screen. I felt that was a trivial concern since the overall size of the display was so immense. But a couple of days later I was puttering around in some spare parts and came across a dvi to rgb converter plug that had come with some video card or other (previously I was using a dvi to hdmi cable). Long story short I hooked up the connector to a cable I had laying around and to the TV and lo and behold a full-screen image and crisper than that of the hdmi. Now in my world rgb is an analog input and dvi/hdmi is a digital output/input, so I can't imagine how the got a 1080p signal over rgb looking so good, and I know that they can't send hdcp over that rgb but I'll take a nice sharp picture anytime. I still have the monitor hooked up on another input for hdmi so I can play blu-ray at full rez, or so I hope... I haven't tried it yet. But overall a fine TV with plenty of inputs, despite its lack of dvi or display port. And the panel looks good, I'm moving from a 24" benq that did hi-def and this looks as good color wise. Game playing is just fine. I've never used a screen refresh rate higher than 60hz anyway so unless someone is doing something seriously wrong or you have some kind of vision defect I'd say this is a great value. BTW, I'm sitting maybe two feet away from it, so I couldn't miss any artifacts/dead pixels/ghosting.

Picked up this tv today at Wally World for $399. Great price for a 1080p 32". I have waited and waited to pull the trigger on a flat screen and this was well worth it. Set up was simple, and while I don't currently receive a lot of HD stations the ones I do get are amazing. My sister and brother in-law have a Sony XBR 1080p that they paid 6 times as much as this tv (2 years ago) and my wife and I both think this picture is as good or better than theirs. The sound quality is adequate, if buyers expect better from any LCD they need to get a home theater set up. Mine is in a bedroom and the sound is fine. Need to pick up an HDMI cable so I can run Blue Ray from my son's laptop. Very happy with this purchase.

Just picked this one up at Target for $399 - can't go wrong with this purchase for that amount. It's a perfect size if you plan on sitting 6' - 7' from the TV. There is a bit of pixelation with scenes that have lots of fast movement, although you really need to be looking for it. Most people won't even know it's there, so I wouldn't get hung up on it. The HD channels look great. I'm really impressed with the color and the black levels. The stand was easy to set up, the finish on the TV/Stand is high gloss and it looks great. The best thing, I didn't need to do any fine tuning to the picture. Right out of the box it looked great. The sound is good, not great, but better than the Samsung I own. There are enough connections to hook up a blue ray player, Xbox 360 or PS3 and sound peripherals. I highly recommend this TV. Everyone talks about Samsung, Sony and Sharp - but I believe Vizio is equally as good. If you find it for $399, make the purchase.

We originally got the A650 (2008 model) in July of 2008. After just 3 months, we started getting sporadic and random green "lightning" on the screen. Samsung attempted to repair the unit THREE times over a period of 9 months, but the problem kept coming back. Finally they agreed to replace our unit with the B650 (2009 model). We got our brand new TV (not refurbished) in June 2009. We were so happy because the picture quality of this TV is just the BEST. Unfortunately, it didn't matter because now (Dec 2009) we are seeing static horizontal lines every 1/10th of an inch. On top of that, we are getting ghost images as well as vertical red/green lines (just like a barcode). Yes, our brand new TV just lasted 6 months. I guess it is an improvement over last year's model, which lasted only 3. But this is beyond ridiculous - what are the chances of us getting two defective units in a row? I am seriously questioning the quality of Samsung TV's. If I could just get my money back, I'd take that and run as far away as possible from Samsung TV's. Instead, I'm stuck having to take time off work (with no pay, as I get paid by the hour)while I deal with ineffective repair men. I'd bet money that even if they change the parts, the problem will keep coming back. DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG TV's, not matter how much the picture quality wows you at the store! You'll regret it for sure.

I bought Samsung LN46B650 TV after exhaustive research and confusions :) ,Initially i was hesitant and speculative, but as I got to view different types of movies and picture I am very satisfied with my selection.

There is lot to this tv and I have barely scratched the surface in terms of feature utilization.

I preferred plasma for the natural colours, but opted LCD for the brightness and contrast level.

I would highly recommend this tv to consider it as an option while selecting a tv.

I set out to get the best 46" LCD that I could get at the best possible price. After a lot of reading reviews online and visiting 5 stores and comparing all their LCDs, I narrowed in on Samsung LN46B640 (sure the 650 and 750 were better, but not at the price being asked for). Compared this model with Sony's V, W and XBR series as well. Just when I was ready to take this set home, a representative from a store alerted me to the performance of the plasma sets (he was not aware of my budget, likes/dislikes and my decision to get the specific LCD). Plasma? Are they not dead? Is the new thing not about LCDs and LEDs? Sure it is and they are just as great. However I now spent 5 hours in 1 hour sessions to compare a plasma set - Panasonic TC-P46S1 with my favorite LCD TV Samsung LN46B640. After looking at 5 different feeds (TV source material/channels) in 5 different stores, I was convinced that the Plasma set performed a little better and provided better color accuracy. Dark and natural green on plasma against Neon green on LCD. Snow on mountains was natural on plasma compared to a Clorox white on LCD. The LCD was indeed good and provided a little better clarity but colors on Plasma were natural. I even changed the settings on the LCD to bring to the same color accuracy of the plasma but could not. LCD presented what I wanted to see, while the plasma set presented it more close to the natural color. On a dark background, the plasma offered colors that popped, while the same colors on the LCD faded. I compared this with the 640, 650, 750 and Sony TVs I mentioned. You will find many websites that tell you that burn-in problem on Plasma is no longer an issue and power consumption gap has also been narrowed down. For my usage power consumption was not a factor. Life of the set is also not an issue any more. Dynamic Contrast ratio and refresh rates, the two most talked about measurements are as follows for the ones I looked at; Plasma: 2 Million:1 and 640 hertz, LCD: 80K:1 and 120hz. Again Dynamic Contrast ratio is very subjective term and you should trust your judgment when comparing models. Its only recently that the LCD sets are catching up to the plasma on the two specs, while the plasma is catching up with the LCD on the power consumption spec. Before you get carried away with these terms, see how it matters to your viewing. In the end, I purchased the Panasonic TC-P46S1 at $200 less than the LCD. However I would not have thought twice if I had to pay the same price for the plasma as the LCD. Reason behind writing this is, do not take any technology for what is being churned out by the marketing machines, media and the hype. Trust your eyes and experience only. If you are reading this, you are reviewing one of the models I had short listed. I am sure whatever you buy will be the best model and in the end your own considered decision. Good Luck.

This TV is exactly what we wanted. This is a bedroom set, and we were not as concerened with having every "cool" feature on the planet as were were with have a quality TV with a good picture and sound. So far we have ZERO complaints. The sound is really good. Our old TV had speakers that seemed to project sound down instead of out. Most of the time we don't have this one turned up past 10 or 11 (out of I guess 100) and it fills the room fine. The picture is crystal clear and the presets are nice - movies, sports, etc... The black casing is nice and clean looking. My wife loves the sleep timer! Plenty of features (more than we can deal with) and setup was so easy it was silly.

I wanted to talk about the seller here: Sixth Avenue Electronics (6ave on Amazon) is the best! I, like most people, hesitate a little to drop this amount of money online. The reviews for 6ave were outstanding, so we gave them a shot. MAN are they good! Communication ALL ALONG THE WAY and they make sure you are happy. I could not ask for a better seller online.

After reviewing several 32in LCD TV's in this price category, I settled on the LG. If you are looking for a sub $400 720P LCD, this one has to be on the top of the list. The TV has multiple calibration features to fine tune the picture. The calibration features are extensive and better than most compared to its competitors. The clarity and the overall picture quality is excellent and the 720P resolution is more than adequate for the size of the TV. The sound quality is good and the "Clear Voice' feature is actually functional and useful. The digital tuner is excellent and you will be surprised what additional channels it will pick up even with basic digital cable.

The included user manual is sub par. It only has the very basic setup functions and features. Go online to LG and download the full manual. The online manual has extensive information regarding the features and functions. This unite is highly recommended. Best in class features, function, picture quality for the price.

I had been looking for a mid-sized TV to put in my kitchen for my 2 year old daughter. While I didn't really want to cheap-out, I also didn't want to break the bank for a 2nd set. After all, she is only going to be watching cartoons and childrens' shows.

Well, I did some research and picture comparisons in Best Buy, and I had narrowed it down to 3 different sets. A Sony, a Samsung, and this LG.

After inspection in the store, I dismissed the Sony, and found that the Samsung and the LG had very comparable pictures, with bright, vivid colors, and NO ghosting at all, even during a HOCKEY game. Impressive.

The difference was, the Samsung was [...] more, and actually had LESS picture-customization features. The LG actually blew me away with the amount of picture-tweaking it allows. I haven't seen ANY other set offer as much. If you can't find a picture you like on THIS set, then you will not find it on ANY set.

There is even a cool picture-calibration feature that takes much of the guess-work out of the process.

Now, some people may balk at this being only 720p...and to be honest, I was looking for 1080p...but again, I didn't want to break the bank.

I decided not to go with the 1080p due to the price, and the fact that no Blu-Ray player would be connected to this, and most broadcasts on cable are in 720p anyway.

Well...I have to say...the picture is BRILLIANT. 720p looks AMAZING anyway, and most of the childrens' shows are not in HD either. The set makes EVERY channel look great...even standard definition.

For [...], I could NOT be happier. And I cannot recommend this TV enough at that price.

While the glossy black finish does attract fingerprints, the screen has just the right amount of anti-glare to it, that ambient room light does not affect the picture quality.

The sound on this TV is another great feature. Most TV's of this size have poor sound quality. This is an area where this set shines. There is an option called "Clear Voice II", that really makes dialog VERY clear. Great feature.

So...if you are looking for a 2nd TV that provides a GREAT HD picture, great sound, attractive design, tons of customization, and a nice anti-glare screen, and will not empty your bank-account....look no further.

LG has done the consumer right by this product.

"Impressive For the Price" 2009-12-26

We are using this unit as a monitor at 1080i on cable television and 1080p from a Bluray player. The image on the screen is very sharp and clear. No ghosting has been noticed on a wide selection of input media.

All of out input sources are connect using HDMI. We have not used the component video. Both video and audio are connected properly through each HDMI interface. It is nice to only need only one cable to a single connector for each input device in use.

The sound system in the set is adequate for a 10 x 15 foot room. Unlike some sets we looked at locally, this unit has the sound well synchronized with the video. Even so, I suspect that our next purchase will be a sound system. For now, it will do quite nicely.

The set detected changes in the input video from the HDMI interfaces nicely. The feed was defaulted to 720p on the Bluray player and it worked without problems. After switching the player to 1080p, the set quickly adjusted itself and we were ready to watch some movies.

Probably the weakest link for this unit is the remote control 'clicker.' The on-screen set up and configuration seem to be easy to follow and work well. It is the 'clicker' itself that needs some improvement. The plastic work and feel of the buttons makes us think that it will not last as long as the TV.

So as our title implies, we feel that this is a very nice HD unit for the price.

This is my very first review on Amazon and this is also the first TV I've purchased from Amazon.

Like others, I purchased this Viore HDTV over the Black Friday weekend sale. It was on sale for $388. After a few days, I was contacted by a PFS (Pilot Freight Services) to schedule a delivery day for the TV. Originally, it was suppose to arrive on a Saturday. Then they call to notify me Saturday evening that they has forgotten about my TV and it was left on the dock. I was disappointed, but I do understand that mistakes happen. So I had to reschedule the delivery for another day. They told me that they deliver 7 days a week and the delivery window is from 10am to 2pm.

As for the Viore HDTV itself, I give it a 3 Star rating. The back of the Viore sticks out further than I originally thought. Measuring it from the side, it's almost 5 inches. It still can't be compared to a DLP of course. For $388, it's not bad and it's 1080p! It's still an upgrade for my bedroom and it replaces my 27" Westinghouse that had no HDMI inputs and it was only 720p. This Viore has 3 HDMI inputs and that's good enough for me. So I decided to hook up my Xbox 360 and PS3 to the HDMI inputs. I adjusted the colors and settings on the Viore and everything turned out great when running a game or Blu-ray movie. I don't see a Backlight option in the settings, so that was a bit of a letdown. I would like to add that the Xbox 360 needs to complete the "handshake" on the HDMI. When my Xbox 360 was on, I decided to switch it from HDMI to TV. As soon as I switched it back to HDMI, my 360 restarted. This however did not happen with my PS3. So just to warn you gamers out there, I don't want anyone to lose their progress when switching to another source.

Please keep in mind that this HDTV does have a built-in ATSC tuner. So if you have basic cable through Comcast and you use a DTA (Digital Transport Adapter) box, having a built-in tuner no longer requires a DTA box. You will not only get more channels, but you will now be able to view some HD channels as well. So far I've noticed a slight "lag" when switching from channel to channel. At times, everything would freeze for a good couple seconds and I won't be able to access anything on the remote, not even the volume controls. It gets annoying when you're trying to see what's on.

To recap, this Viore doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it'll get the job done. Whether you plan to use it just to watch cable TV, play games, or even watch Blu-rays. You can't expect too much for $400. I'm not sure about the longevity of this TV, but I hope it'll at least last 5 years. If anyone is looking for a decent 32" 1080p HDTV, this is it. It's hard to find a similar HDTV for the same price. Hope this review has helped. :)

Bought this on Black Friday for a really low price (from Amazon). Was excited to get everything hooked up; not for long however. Hopefully this is just a faulty TV or faulty cord.

The picture sucks. I can totally see someone coming from a cheap CRT and thinking this looks great, and it's not bad if your at a distance from the set, and really can't notice or don't mind. I have my PS3 hooked up, playing games like Ninja Gaiden II (which generally look awesome) and which visibly show jaggies/anti-aliasing issues; in laments terms, things don't look as high quality as they should be. Playing games like Ninja Gaiden II / Bayonetta / Rachet & Clank on my PS3 were absolutely disgusting affairs, while my Xbox 360 fared no better.

I don't know if it's because I'm used to gaming on good monitors, or if I'm sensitive to this kind of stuff, but I will be sure to give an update. As it stands, even though I paid very cheap money for this, I honestly rather game on my 26" monitor than on this (as it stands) piece of trash. I'm thinking this might be returned back to Amazon, or sold to someone who doesn't care about it.

That title has two meanings. This bargain 720p HDTV can be made to display a very good picture, but not if you 'obey' Vizio's instruction manual. You will pay a big penalty if you fall for Vizio's green marketing baloney.

It appears that all TV manufacturers adjust their picture controls at the factory to make their displays stand out in a lineup on a shelf in the store. Often that creates a picture which at home is inaccurate, too bright, too contrasty, over sharpened, etc. Thus any new TV must be 'calibrated' to produce a picture that correctly reproduces the video signal it receives. Sure enough, Vizio does that with the VO320E too. But that makes it draw more current. So during the initial setup routine the manual advises you to select the "Home Mode" rather than "Retail Mode," to "give you the opportunity to save energy." It says nothing about any effect on picture quality. So, good (and penny-pinching) citizen that I am, I dutifully punched in Home Mode before proceeding, a few days later, with calibrating the set using the Digital Video Essentials (DVE) system. When I finished the picture indeed looked pretty good... at night in a very dimly lit room. But in daylight it was lousy--dim, dull, and washed out. An unpleasant surprise, since a review of inexpensive LCDs in the October, 2009 issue of Consumer Reports had graded the VO320E's picture as "excellent." By then I had forgotten about that "Home"/"Retail" toggle, which doesn't appear in the VO320E's regular picture-tuning menus. After considerable fussing with brightness, contrast, color and other controls, often in flagrant violation of what DVE advised, I was about ready to return the set--which I bought for our brightly illuminated kitchen--when I realized that, duh, a little more juice might make a difference. And it did--a big difference. But I wish that Visio would admit the dirty trick they used in order to put "ECO" in the VO320E's name.

So, set it up in the "Retail" mode and the VO320 (I presume that eliminates the "E") will indeed deliver an excellent picture. Not up to the quality of a 46" 1080p 120 or 240 Hz set, but fine for a second or third TV, and costing much less. It is light, easy to mount on a wall, and visually attractive--surprisingly unobtrusive for its size, and a thin strip of chrome along its bottom edge adds a neat touch of class. Vizio is to be commended for providing a printed 67-page manual that is all in (reasonably clear and non-geeky) English--although it does not manufacture the VO320E in the United States as another reviewer claims (at least my set says it was made in China). The 'calibration' process (Vizio calls it "fine tuning") is simple and straight forward, at least if you don't try to use DVE, and most of the controls' default settings proved to be nearly correct when checked with DVE's test patterns--I had to change "Color" from 50 to 45 to get a fair calibration using DVE's red, green and blue filters, and reduce "Sharpness" from 4 to 1 (but I subsequently decided that a tad more sharpening gave the picture a little more pizzazz, despite what DVE concluded).

I hesitate to gripe about sound quality in a TV as small and inexpensive as this, but since no other Amazon reviewer has as yet done so, here goes. Plan to hook the VO320E up to some other audio device if you possibly can (fortunately, we had an old Bose CD player on a table in the same corner of the kitchen). You can turn off the VO320E's tinny little speakers, and the "Analog Audio Out" control can be set to "Variable," allowing the TV volume and mute controls to regulate an external audio device (a convenience that my much fancier HDTV in the family room lacks). There is even an equalizer included among the audio controls--a welcome feature since the VO320E's audio amplifier distorts badly, apparently in an attempt to compensate for the shortcomings of its speakers.

For its price, this is a fine 32-inch HDTV. Were it not for Vizio's Eco-prevarication, and the tinny sound, both of which are easily overcome, I would give it five stars.

I was not sure about getting this tv since I had never heard of the brand. I got it at COSTCO for $339. We asked one of the kids working in that department if he knew anything about this brand. He had a 42 inch and said he was quite pleased with it.

The cost was fantastic of course. Plus Costco adds another year of warranty on it.

We mounted it in the bedroom and it was very easy for my husband to lift up onto the stand.

The picture is great. One of the reviews said that the logo at the bottom was annoying. I find that I don't even notice it after you get interested in your program.

It is well worth the money, even if it had been closer to $400. I would recommended this tv.

I originally purchased a 26 Vizio VA 10T. I had some initial problems and read the warranty. On TVs less than 32 inches, Vizio requires that you ship the TV to California at your expense. I don't think so. I returned it to Walmart, and then purchased this TV at Sams. In home service on this one.

This TV has much higher quality and workmanship than the 26 inch model. Excellent PQ, VG sound, VG viewing angle, no glare. . The cable hookups go in horizontally, while the 26 inch model had vertical hookups. The vertical hookups would be fine with a wall mount, but were difficult to use on my stand.

Cons. Remote is pretty basic, and the menu is somewhat confusing. Since this is used with Direct TV, I only use the Vizio remote to change some preferences.

Addressing comments on Walmart purchases. Consider this. I initially purchased the 26 inch model. I paid a pre BF price of $ 248, reg. $ 327-348. At $ 248, my 3 year extended warranty was $ 19.99. I wasn't happy withe TV, returned it, and did not have to pay a restocking charge (hello-Best Buy). I had to open the Box, and remove the TV, to get to and read the warranty. Only then did I find out I needed to ship the TV to California, at my expense, for warranty work. Even under the Wally 3 year extended warranty, the mfg terms still applied. So for any warranty work, I needed to ship it at my expense. I think it stinks that companies don't disclose the significant terms of their warranty more prominently, prior to purchase. Their behavior sticks you with restocking fees. Love this 32 inch Vizio. Go for it.

I bought this at Costco for $339 and it is an outstanding buy. Light to move around easy to hook up. Really outstanding picture. The sound is better than average but not outstandin. All in all I am extremely happy with this television, knowing that is only sipping at the electricity makes it even nicer.

I have got a fairly small TV, the 26" since it's in my bedroom and beside my bed. I am one of the last converts to HD. I, having an emotional attachment to an old RCA 13" that is 25 yrs old and still works, have an older 2001 Sony in my living room. The picture on that is the best I've ever seen. Therefore, this purchase was a Sony and I'm amazed at the picture quality. I hooked it up myself initially and no problems at all with the operation. Simple to operate, no problems with any dimming. I would highly recommend this TV. I only hope it lasts half as long as the old RCA but I doubt they make them like that anymore. I will purchase another Sony Bravia at this point for my living room. Trying to determine the size.

I was quite unsatisfied after about 2 weeks of having this TV. At first I was blown away by the picture quality, and the sound was much crisper when using the HDMI output from my satellite receiver and using the optical output from the TV into my surround sound, than it was running the optical output directly from the satellite receiver to the surround sound.

But then I noticed problems with the notorious "Auto Dimming" feature. Sony, this is your worst idea yet! In addition there was frequent audio loss through the HDMI connection, and wouldn't correct itself until rewinding either on the DVR or DVD.

Sony fixed all this with the firmware update. The link for the update is here (remove spaces): [....]

After running the update, the audio was fixed, but I was still having problems with the auto dim feature. I read a little more, and found this article: [....]

I really wanted to give this TV 5 stars, especially since I found it at Best Buy for $599. The only thing that kept me from giving this 5 stars is the problems with the TV prior to the update. If the TV would have never had these problems, it would be an easy 5 stars.

1, after 2 days noticed vertical purple line on screen , called sony trouble shouting and they worked with me on the phone but no result . I was very angry and suggested sony has to come in my home and correct or take it back .sony gave me a link and I scheduled at home service .

2, At same time I contacted amazon and requested to return the TV , Amazone responded positivly and scheduled for return the TV and refund my money.

3, Sony technician called and arranged appointment , arrived on time with one box brand new Flat panel . after 3 hours work he replaced the panel with new one and the line was gone . Also he reset TV for me . I was very happy .

4, I called and canceled the Amazon return shipping .

Overall I am very saticfy from Sony's respnse and their Technician

Also very happy of Amazon response , speed of response .

I will buy from amazone again .

Hope this TV will work fine in future too .

Very high opinion of this HDTV, and it's picture, however when I hooked it up to my stereo receiver for great sound from two very large Klipsch speakers, I lost the ability to mute by the remote, or change the volume, and must use the stereo receiver, which is not nearby to do those functions. I have only had this set operational for two weeks, so I cannot comment on reliability, altho I've heard Sony is a well respected manufacturer.

Just bought this Sony TV from BestBuy at an incredible price of $597.99. Couldn't discern any difference in quality between this and other expensive (120Hz, higher dynamic contrast ratio) models in the store and at $600, didn't feel need to go for the generic brands.... The setup was breeze - the remote is intuitive to be used without refering to manual. I am still waiting to get my Sony Blu ray player from Amazon so have not tested that video functionality yet. Was really surprised by the picture quality from the standard def DVD from SD home theater (w/o upconvert feature) connected via S-video cable. The night/dark scenes were really dark and overall picture qaulity was excellent. Can't wait to see how better the blu ray picture would be. Another note on picture quality - the TV is in a room where there is sunlight. When the TV is on there is no reflection seen on the LCD itself while the bevel surface surface does show reflection. The TV display somehow gets rid of all the sunlight reflection - really impressed by this. Also, no issues with the auto dim feature - have not changed any default settings so may be it's true new models have the problem fixed. For the movie I am using home theater sound system but found the sound quality to be very good for the TV channels, unlike the experience of some reviewers here. May be just lucky ... Very happy with the purchase!

I was tasked with getting a small TV to put in my parents' kitchen. After reading lots of online reviews and looking at some sets in local stores, I finally decided to take the leap with this unit even though there were complaints of sound quality and small viewing angles. I have several friends with larger Samsung LCDs and they all have been very satisfied, so I trusted the brand.

I'm rather glad I did. This TV now sits on a counter between the main kitchen and the dining area, and while it's obviously not as clear from every angle as it is straight on, its horizontal viewing angle is at least as good as other LCDs I've seen and better than many. We don't really test the vertical viewing angle much since it's waist to chest height, but it seemed acceptable to me when I sat on the ground in front of it.

I was only marginally concerned about the sound since they have the option of passing the audio through to the kitchen zone of their distributed audio system, but the speakers hold up well for what they are. Don't expect the same sound that comes out of the sound bar of a 42-62" TV since these speakers are appreciably smaller, but they fill the fairly large kitchen/dining area just fine. Don't know if I got a great unit or it's just quieter in our place than other reviewers', but I don't see us having to turn it up much higher than 60 out of 100.

Can't really comment on the overall picture quality as they're just running standard definition to it at this point, but the colors are great.

Very much recommend this model to anyone looking for a small basic set.

This set is a good fit for a small space. As others have said, the built in speakers are tinny, but odds are if you are buying a set this small, you will be using headphones anyhow. I move mine between a very high perch (Bed) and have no trouble viewing it, and a eye level spot (Work Desk) and get exceptional clarity there as well.

I had it from box to viewing in about five minuets. Took me longer to open the damned box then to actually set it up.

You get your moneys worth for sure. Though if you are going to be viewing from more then six feet away, I would opt for a larger set.

"Better than the LED 120hz models that cost $600 more" 2009-12-22

Since this is our first HD TV, I put a lot of time and energy into researching what TV would be the best for our budget. I had managed to scrap together around $1,400 and wanted to get the most that I could for within $100 of that price range.

I kicked a lot of tires in October/November of 2009, debating between buying this Samsung, which was top of its class at the beginning of the year or jumping in to the emerging LED market. A friend who runs a home theater installation company gave me the thumbs up on the B750, but also said that I should also check out the Samsung UN46B6000 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV.

The B6000 is 120 Hz versus the 240 Hz for the B750 - and after viewing them side by side, I fully believe that the B750 has better image processing for live-action sports. The B6000 simply wasn't as smooth and had dropout in comparison.

I got the B750 from a vendor local in SF, and the picture looked a little odd out of the box. The contrast was set way too high, making most shows look fake and staged. I found some image configuration & calibration setups I online, and have loved the picture ever since. We got it just in time for the fall football season, and love it.

Watching one game on the NFL Network I thought the screen looked cluttered and noisy - until I realized it was footprints in the turf that I was seeing so clearly. Bluray Discs look incredible, PS3 games are insane, and HD programming is gorgeous. These are on sale now for amazing prices, and your money is better spent on this than the B6000 - with the money you save you can get a PS3 slim - the best damn Bluray player on the market.

I was debating between this and the XBR9 and I'm glad I got this TV. Not only is it $200 cheaper, but the B750 is just better in every way. Colors are brighter/warmer than the XBR9, the 240hz makes watching sports a dream, and even playing video games is not as bad as people make it out to be. I didn't have any quality control issues, everything worked out of the box and it was easy to setup. People complain about the sound, but honestly it's not that bad, it's only bad because the picture is so awesome you wish you had the sound system to go with it.

I bought this TV last week. I tried to share my laptop files with TV via DLNA but it didn't work. I called Samsung support and none of their on call person was able to resolve it. They transferred it to their Tier 2 support and the lady tried to resolve it but couldn't. She told that someone from Samsung will call after few hrs but nobody called even after one day. I tried to call them again they gave me reference number:2010796743 to track the complain and again told that a product specialist will call within few days. I am fed up of their customer support and going to return this TV tomorrow.

I have had this Samsung 46 inch HDTV for just a little over a month. It is absolutely great! The delivery service took it out of the box, attached the stand and plugged it in. They did not hook it up to the HD satellite box, but thats ok, I wanted to do it myself. It was very easy to set up and configure.

It does not come with an HDMI cable, which you will need in order to realize the full potential of this TV. Don't just buy any old HDMI cable though. Make sure the package says it supports 1080P resolution and 240hz refresh rate. I got an excellent cable at Wally World for $34.00. (Sony)

This is my first HDTV and I am still amazed at the picture everytime I turn it on. I was going to get the 120hz model, but my wife had a fit about the RED touch of color. And that was all that was available in 120hz. I'm glad she did now. I have watched many different programs, including sports, and there is no blurring.

I picked this set up a week ago and must say that

I'm extremely pleased considering the price I paid.

I hooked it up to my cable providers HD box using a

dirt cheap HDMI cable. The factory default settings

are very good with no obvious deficiencies.

If your concerned about this set being only 60Hz, don't.

I have watched basketball and football on this set

and have not experienced any lagging, blurring, etc.

Yes it only has 3 HDMI inputs, but for me it's plenty enough.

I use 1 for my HD box connection and another for my PS3.

I'm currently shopping for a new surround sound system

which will use my 3rd and final input.

Speaking of sound, granted it's not the best coming out of

the set, but its not as bad as some may make it out to be.

All in all, I have to rank this as the best deal on the market

for a 52" LCD set. I spent 3 months researching and comparing

prices before I decided on this one.

Got this television for my 87 year old grandfather's birthday. He loves it. Mounted it on the wall with no problem. I actually saved hundreds of dollars ordering from amazon as opposed to going in a retail store. And, my purchase was delivered before the scheduled date which made it even better. Excellent tv, quality picture, quality service. Most definately recommend.

We purchased this tv for our den...an extra one to hook up the kids Wii to. We didn't think it would be the "main" tv as we have another larger one in our living room, but boy were we wrong! My husband and I are always using this tv..we have to get the kids off of it all the time. Not because the Wii is on it, (they have a PS3 on the larger one) but they like the picture better! We did notice while watching a movie that the quality of picture kept getting dark, so I came here on Amazon to read reviews hoping to fix the problem. Well, Amazon reviewers came thru again...we downloaded very easily from the Sony website the "auto dimming patch", followed instructions on how to upload it onto the tv and within 3 minutes the picture was perfect! Great product for way under a grand!!!!!!!!

I'm not a techie, so my review is based on what I see. Which is, a clear picture, good color, and much better picture than our old analog set. Controls relatively uncomplicated, something us senior citizens look for in today's high-tech electronics. Someone else set it up for us, and it seemed fairly easy--for him. Anyway, we are very happy with this set, and would definitely recommend it.

I have trouble hearing many tv's and the sound on this set without any enhancements is the best I tested. I like the picture and even I was able to hook it all up,,,, with a little help from tech support,, lol. I am not a big tv watcher, so was looking for quality at a great price. This matched all my criteria.

I've had this Sony LCD for about 4 months. I bought it for the bedroom. The sound is really good. Once you adjust all the settings it has a great picture. In the one review the person said

the picture on this Sony was the worst. When I looked at the screen at bestbuy the picture was bad compared to another LCD it was next to. I then opened the settings menu and adjusted the settings then the picture looked great. Just as good as the other LCD. So when in a store don't always judge the picture by what they have the settings at. Just get into the menu settings and change them. What I really like about this set is HD looks great and SD also looks really good.

It's amazing how LCD televisions have come down in price. I have a 46" XBR2 that I bought for almost 3x the price of this one around 3 years ago. And the funny thing is this television and my XBR2 have exactly the same specs--46', 60Hz, 1080p. It's amazing.

This television is not 240Hz and it's not LED-backlit. But guess what, it is good enough! I sometimes can't help but feel that TV manufacturers add new features and increase specs so that they can justify an higher price. I think there is a term for this--planned obsolescence.

I mean, you probably would get a slightly better picture going for an new XBR or football will probably look better with 120 or 240Hz. But I really can't tell the difference. And this slight improvement, in my opinion, does not justify the significantly higher price of these upgrades.

Do yourself a favor and go for this model. I mean, today's top of the line models will also look ancient in a couple of years!

The problems are that the sound is terrible and the picture quality is sub standard. I Bought the Samsung LN19A450 last year for the den and loved it, bought the LN22A450 for the master bedroom because I was so pleased with the 19 inch. The picture is great, sound is ok, very easy setup, remote is not layed out for easy one hand use (I use the Direct TV remote and this is not a problem for me) and the set has enough inputs so I can use it for my dish, rabbit ears and computer all at the same time.

I pretty much based this purchase on what other people thought about it. Would it be too small, too cheap, other problems. Was really unsure. Read through Amazons reviews and were positive so I thought I'd give it a try and was impressed. The 32 inch although only 720p had me worried but not anymore. With the screen size that small thats all you really need. (I have not seen a 1080p in 32 inch). The HD picture is very nice, the speakers for a tv are excellent. A shiny high gloss to the outer frame makes this a nice looking set. For this price I give it 5 out of 5.

The TV works fine, though as others have mentioned, the channel changing is very slow. I bought it because it is small and white, which works in my kitchen. The only problem I have with it is that on a few channels, the sound is not loud enough to be heard easily over normal kitchen noise. Even with the volume cranked all the way up, it's just not very loud. As for features, I wish they had included a CableCard slot. The only HD cable decoder box my cable company (Comcast) offers is physically just about as large as this TV, which kind of defeats the purpose of buying a small TV. And the monthly rental fee for the HD decoder box is much higher than the rental fee for a CableCard.

One of my hobbies is creating computer video greeting cards and family videos on DVD.I use this lttle gem of a flat screen TV to check the finished discs. I have been hunting for months for a good quality white digital flat screen TV for my kitchen window ledge. This is the only "choice" out there......if you are looking for a 15", this is it! Seems impossible, but it is true. This is the only 15" available from a manufacturer that you have actually heard of.

Not only is it the only one available, but it only comes with a DVD player, so don't bother looking for a TV without the DVD. You do get a choice of color: black or white, so don't gripe!

Another thing you need to know, is that TV manufacturers no longer bother to include an antenna with their sets, so if you are like me and are actually planning to use THE AIRWAVES to receive programming, you have to purchase a digital antenna in order to receive anything resembling a broadcast. This is not a choice, this is a necessity. If you do not subscribe to cable or direct TV or satellite or whatever, YOU NEED TO BUY A DIGITAL ANTENNA! Again, its not a matter of better reception, its the only way you are going to get reception.

With that in mind, I purchased the RCA ANT1500 Large Multi-Directional Digital Flat Passive Antenna (White) which promised to bring in a maximum number of analog and digital chanels and look unobtrusive in the process.

The TV and antenna both arrived today and I was able to get them hooked up and running in less than a half an hour and that included removing them from their boxes and reading the instruction booklets, programming the set, neatening up wires, etc.

The TV is attractive and surprisingly, almost alarmingly light weight. It is a cinch to pick up and move around. This is not the set of yesteryear, when you needed to be a weightlifter inorder to pick up a "portable" tv. This set is light, like a big Kindle on a stand.

I live in New York City and without the antenna hooked up to the TV I was able to get no programming whatsoever. Zilch. No picture, no sound, nothing.

The antenna is a flat white slab that the TV is able to sit on top of. You can also stand the antenna upright or hang it on a wall. The antenna comes with a cable (how thoughtful!) that is easily attached to the TV. It requires no electricity. All connections are clearly marked.

Once attached together and the "Automatic Programming" set up, I was able to get 3 analog and 47 digital chanels! While many of the 47 digital chanels are in foreign (not English)languages, all the New York local network stations came in bright and clear and ultrasharp.

The sound is maybe not as loud as I would have liked but it certainly is loud enough for most circumstances. You will never turn this baby up to 11!

Some reviewers complain about the TV taking an extreme length of time to turn on and then to switch stations. This is true. The tuner is very pokey. I know that digital receivers take longer than analog ones but this seems to be slower than most. We are talking about seconds here, but it does seem slow.

Other reviewers complain about the large "bright light" on the front of the set that glows blue when the set is on and orange when off. Yes, there is a light and I really don't see the big deal, its not a kleig light or a torch. Also, if you are among the ones who find it irritating, you can go in to "Set Up" and turn it off. I admit it does seem a bit gratuitous. Why provide a "decorative" on/off light when you could have supplied something far more useful.....like an antenna?

I am delighted with the set. The price was right, the size is perfect, the picture very good. And, if I ever want to watch a DVD while I am cooking, I know I can!

I bought this tv to go on the wall above my tredmill for a little more inspiration. the sound is horrible and was told that I couldn't do anything about it. that the tv came with inputs and no outputs for extra speakers. well I called frys electronics and am going to install a receiver with two speakers as well (300 dollars more) so lets hope that works. I'll let you know. but I ended up sending so much for one rinky dink little tv. very dissapointed and frustrated. tv's arent supposed to be that low in sound. its just ridiculous.

"Setup hint for attaching stand" 2009-12-23

Great TV, a nice replacement for a recently deceased Sony Trinitron (RIP, old friend). Setup was straightforward, all went smoothly once we got it put together.

Thanks to previous reviewers, I expected some issues with attaching the stand to the TV itself and was not disappointed. There are 4 short bolts that you have to insert, that connect the stand to the TV frame. The threaded holes for each bolt are at the end of a 1- to 2-inch deep (or so) tunnel in the back of the TV frame, so you can't get them started by just screwing them in with your fingers and finishing up with a screwdriver. The manual suggests that you do this by laying the TV screen-down on a towel, but (unless you have a magnetized phillips head screwdriver, maybe - I don't) the bolts just fall sideways off the screwdriver, down into the bottom of the well, with no easy way to get the bolts started in their holes. I have needle-nose pliers but they weren't useful - tunnels too narrow.

Instead, I started with the TV screen-down on a towel on a table, slid the stand into position in its slot on the frame, then carefully rotated the TV and stand upright. That way, I could use my "fat" phillips-head screwdriver to balance the bolt on the end of the screwdriver, and carefully insert the bolt on the tip of the screwdriver, horizontally into the tunnel. Even though you can't see where you're aiming, it wasn't hard to find the holes and all 4 went it quickly doing it that way.

"Works Great, perfectly fits the budget!" 2009-12-21

Let's see ... Where do I start? I have a 50" Sony SXRD Projection TV in which we paid over $5,000 for including the stand! I love the TV but when your Electricity bill is over $300.00, you need to find ways of cutting down on the utility bill. Besides that, this TV needs to have it's projection lamp replaced once a year and that lamp cost over $300! Even at discount places, this lamp still cost over $200! Think about replacing that lamp every year or every couple of years. In no time, you would have spent enough to purchase a brand new 40 - 50 inch LCD TV. This TV is not only smaller but Star Energy rated, so that should save some on the electricity.

In the bedroom was an old Toshiba 13" CRT type TV and watching movies on it were less than satisfying. So, what better time to replace the bedroom TV. My budget since I'm on limited income was under $350.00 and this perfectly fits the budget.

I read somewhere that the size of the TV one should buy should be based on the distance (in inches) from the TV to where you'll be sitting; divided by 2.5. After measuring the distance, I came up with 72", divided by 2.5 and it comes out to 28.8 inches. A 32" TV would have been too big and so I settled for this TV and I'm a happy camper!

The Sony has a more subtle smoother picture while the picture on this TV is more vivid and seems crisper (if that makes any sense). In simple terms, it seems like it has more contrast which from experience as a salesman, most people prefer when looking at an image.

My other concern was the difference between 1080P and 720P, and I've been told that it makes a difference on a larger TV (40" or more), but not so much with the smaller screens. I tend to agree with that since it's all about pixel size. Have you ever noticed on the old CRT tv's that the smaller the tv, the better the picture quality? That's because (without getting too technical) there's a certain number of pixels horizontally and vertically, and the smaller the pixels, the better the image) Also, the number of pixels makes a difference, but only to a certain extent. We'll on this size TV the 720P works very well and you won't see a major difference if it had 1080P.

My next concern was hooking up a DVD player. Hooking up an old standard DVD player to an HD TV didn't make any sense. So I had to consider a Blu Ray or an upconverting DVD player. That was an easy decision since we have about 2000 standard DVD's. Replacing all those with the Blu Ray equivalent would get costly (about ten grand), so an upconverting DVD player was the choice. About $60.00 (upconverting DVD player) versus $150.00 (A quality Blu Ray player).

I purchased at the same time the Sony HDMI DVP NS710H upconverting player and combined with this tv, works perfectly well! The picture is stunning and I couldn't be happier. However, the upconversion only works if you hook it up via an HDMI cable. So please be aware of that!

I am now thinking about hooking up this TV to the new HOKU player which is used for streaming Netflix and Amazon movies!

Oh Yeah, about the poor viewing angle? How many people do you know that watches TV from the sides? When I watch TV, I want to enjoy what I'm watching ... so I will sit right in front of it!

Picture Quality (when hooked up to Cable, DSL, Antenna)?

Excellent IF you're getting good reception from your provider. But keep in mind that if you'r reception is poor, this TV will NOT improve the image quality. In the copy world it's referred to as "Garbage In, Garbage Out". As we all know, NOT all channels will come in clear, and so this TV will only output what's coming in.

Sound Volume? It has plenty for a bedroom. In fact, I had it on halfway and my wife who was in another room downstairs asked me to turn the volume down. This TV is meant for a bedroom or similar environment. It is not meant to be the main TV in a large room connected to a surround sound system. That I have on my 50" Sony TV. It is also not meant for a noisy environment such as a garage while you're working on your table saw or doing laundry, or in a Kitchen while you're running the garbage disposal or the dishwasher. No, it's not meant to compete with other surrounding noises. So please keep that in mind when making your purchasing decision.

Mine came in the original Panasonic box- with everything including the batteries in pre formed styrofoam slots; it was perfect. I haven't set it up yet but I must say after reading that, I was concerned that I was going to receive it just thrown in box being banged around during shipping, not the case at all. The television is beautiful, can't wait to see what the picture and sound are like I don't think I will be disappointed. Panasonic products are usually excellent as well as Amazon and what a great price!

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. Everything is great but needed to add inexpensive speakers made for computer to get really good sound. I got a great deal thru Amazon at $918.

The shipping was not as good as expected. I thought they would take it out of the box, turn it on and set it on the stand. The shipper, Pilot, came in a rental truck, had me sign off and left it with me. Luckily setup was easy and I was good to go within 45 minutes with pretty much full functionality.

One note: though the tv has internet capabilities, you need to purchase a wireless bridge separately to hook it up. Expect to spend an additional $50-$100.

I am very impressed with the KDL-40W5100. The picture is crystal clear when viewing HD programming or playing games from an HD capable gaming system (PS3 in my case). If do you do have a PS3, you'll be quite familiar with the XBR menu systems on this TV. You can access all of the TV's setup options from this menu and even stream TV shows and other media from a select set of Internet sites, if you connect the TV to your LAN.

Speaking of connecting the TV to your LAN, this TV actually comes with an integrated RJ45 ethernet interface for easy connection to your wired LAN. If you don't have an available ethernet jack by your TV, you can purchase a wireless bridge to connect the TV to your wireless network. Once connected, as I said previously, you can stream content straight from the Internet. Also, if you have a Netflix account, you can stream movies directly to the TV! No need for a Roku or similar device. Also, if there are any firmware updates for the TV, you can check right from the XBR menu, and if there are any, you can download and apply the firmware with a few clicks of a button.

It's really one of the most fully functional TVs I've come across. You really can't go wrong with Sony.

The picture is awesome. Wonderful experience, with one exception. The sound would not be satisfactory, except that I am running through an amp for surround sound. Prior to hooking that up it was too poor to accept and I would have returned. The backfire speaker design was blocked in my install location, so it was muffled and need to be up 75% just to be audible. Everything else is perfect. No regrets.

"Defective Remote - Samsung customer service - worthless!" 2009-12-18

I've wanted this TV for a long time. The price Amazon is selling it for is too low to resist so I ordered it and it arrived well before it was promised so again Amazon is great. However the remote is defective. I called Samsung customer service and they guided me through resetting it but is still didn't work. So they gave me 2 choices - wait 7-14 days for a replacement or send the TV back. Can you believe they would want me to send the TV back rather than send the remote more quickly?

So I am unable to rate the TV, others think it's great, and I've seen them in other locations where they do have great pictures but what good it that if a defective remote keeps me from even being able to set-up the TV. What will happen if there is a really serious problem? So I guess back it goes and I'll be back on Amazon looking for a good TV from a company that stands behind their products.

After much research and shopping, I decided to go with this television. I am quite impressed with my decision. The television is GORGEOUS. I think the piano black color looks very classy and I personally prefer that over the other Samsung tvs which have that red touch of color. This tv has outstanding picture quality. Even the SD broadcasts do not look that bad on this tv. Sound quality is decent but I hear to get the best audio, set up a surround sound speaker system. For now I am happy with the speakers on the set itself. I have only had this tv for a few weeks now and I am very happy with my purchase. Samsung is the best in LCD tvs (in my opinion) these days. I recommend this tv!

Samsung really does make great TV's. I also love playing xbox 360 on it. The functionality is smooth and quick as well such as moving from watching tv to viewing what's on my computer to gong to one of the HDMI ports. The speakers sound decent as well, however, it's best to get a surround sound system for any new TV. The price was decent too. I wish that it had an HDMI port on the side but that is only a minor issue. Over all, great TV.

Incredible! I read so much about LCD and visited many retailers that had this product and the competing products. So in the showroom I got to see the pictures side by side. It was very apparent immediately that the Samsung picture was far superior to all of the other LCD TVs in its class. I thought perhaps it had something to do with the signal or the settings of the television so I was a little skeptical. To my delight, the TV was everything that I hoped for. First of all the picture is outstanding. The blacks are dark black the whites are pure white and all of the colors same as vivid as reality. Since it has a built in QAM tuner, I was able to plug it in to my coaxial cable from my wall and tune 100 stations including the high definition channels. Setup was easy by choosing the automatic option and it found all of the stations at once. Even the standard definition stations looked far superior than they did on my old set. Since this TV was specifically for my bedroom where I had no cable box I promptly ordered a set top box to receive high definition broadcasts . It is truly amazing, of the picture is much better than my 46 inch living room LCD by a different manufacturer. Noticeably superior. The only negative I can say about this TV is that the speakers are very mediocre, but in so much that this is a 1080p flat panel it is presumed that you will hook it up to an exterior sound device. So you should. The picture quality is stunning from corner to corner; if you will be amazed. I am so pleased with this purchase. As you can see in the other reviews the TV has all the hookups that you can imagine. Three HDMI, component, and coaxial. It has an exterior digital output options, but lacks USB and film card inputs. No big deal. I have connected this TV to my PC of via and HDMI cable and can watch bluRay movies that play on my PC. I cannot imagine a single thing that I would add to this TV if I designed it myself.

I have 3 LCD HDTVs, all different sizes and makes. The Samsung probably has the best picture (without putting them side by side) amazing color. Great picture, both analog and digital, through cable. Great remote layout. Good menu and easy setup, takes about 20 minutes for the auto channel setup, which seems about average. Would not hesitate to buy another Samsung. TV was delivered on time and excellently packaged.

"Sony can do better!" 2009-12-21

I have owned Sony XBR5 the past couple of years and pretty satisfied with it. It is pretty good with both standard and high-def programing and audio quality is not bad. Got Z5100 as my second TV and had high expectations considering the specs of this one. But, it doesn't live up. Sony totally lost it.

Z5100 picture is pretty crisp/bright when compared to XBR5, but moving objects are not smooth and after watching for couple of weeks its quiet annoying. Have tried all possible settings that's suggested in different forums, nothing helps. PS3 blue-ray contents/1080p programming are fine but everything else sucks-- 480, 720, 1080i.

I do lot of streaming ( Netflix / Amazon VOD / YouTube / ... ) and all these contents have the same issue.

Some might argue that this is not the TV's fault and input signals are to blame. But, at this point you can only get 1080p from game / blue-ray. And, 90% of the other contents are still is in SD/720/1080i and Z5100 cant play them. Z5100 does a poor job of up-converting everything to its native resolution-- 1080p.

In the end, my two year old XBR5 is able to handle both SD/HD signals well. And, after two years of technological development-- BRAVIA 3 processor, 240 HZ, etc... Z5100 is actually a step back for Sony.

Amazon is the best! Great price, fast delivery, good customer service...

"There REALLY IS a Difference!!!" 2009-12-09

I had thought that TVs weren't much different from one to the next, primarily because of the reviews on Amazon. Everybody seems to think just about every flat screen is awesome. But this TV convinced me there are significant differences.

I hear constant arguments about what makes a difference to the viewer. You can read the forum debates until you are blue in the face. But what it comes down to is how the product performs for you, and this product truly shocked me.

The only thing I didn't appreciate is that ads imply it is wireless, and it is only wireless if you buy a wireless adapter. Sony does this with some of their stereo setups as well, saying they are wireless, but after you buy them you find out you have to buy an expensive addition to make them wireless.

Now, for the review, which is rather simplistic. Honestly. like most people, I bought a TV to watch, and I want to feel as though it is a great TV because I have to live with it for years to come.

I bought a Sharp 46" first after I read some great comments on it and there was a door buster deal at Walmart on the TV. I got it for $698. We used it for about two weeks, and I was constantly disappointed with it. Certain aspects of the picture were distracting. A graininess in the background, a blurriness when overlays occurred (like when they flash the station's logo on the screen), and an inability to deal with panning effectively, resulting in a jumpy image.

I would have kept the Sharp, but I got a deal on this TV at Amazon that was quite good. So I bought it, thinking if I didn't like it as much as the Sharp, I could find someone that wanted it. I was blown away. The design is way more beautiful than the Sharp and the picture is shockingly brilliant. Side by side, there is just no comparison. The graininess is only present in large black areas, something inherent to LCD, but there is no blurriness, and panning is perfect. Perhaps that is the quality of the display, perhaps the 240 Hz refresh rate or possibly Sony's algorithm to smooth the picture. All I know is the effect is vastly more pleasant to watch.

The remote is large and plays well with other Sony products. If you have other Sony components, the TV recognizes them which is kind of cool. It is internet capable, providing Netflix and other internet TV features that make it a cut above most other TVs.

The menus are nicely designed and intuitive. Setup is simple, except perhaps finding some well hidden connectors on the side of the TV. It also has an integrated TV Guide. That is also way cool for TV viewing directly from an HDTV Antenna.

My only complaint so far, and I am hoping I find a good solution, is that when it is hooked up to my computer, some stray colors appear. For example, black text can have red mixed in or sometimes blue. This only seems to happen with blacks and was not noticeable at all on the Sharp. I am hoping this is just a driver issue in Windows, because it is using the generic monitor driver.

But honestly, I knew we were hooked on this TV when we realized we were just staring at the commercials rather than fast forwarding past them. The picture is absolutely hypnotic.

This is a brilliant TV and if it is in your price range, you will never regret buying it, at least based on what I have observed. The Sharp was sold off to a friend and I don't miss it a bit.

This was a gift for my husband. I did a lot of research before I purchased this item. Thank you to all of those that review items as each review provided excellent information. One in particular assisted me in making my final decision, thank you. We have a small game room so I choose the 46 inch. It is perfect. We don't have HD on our Direct TV yet and the picture is still excellent. We don't have an HD DVD player nor do we have a Blue Ray. We have a little Sony DVD player and most of our DVD's still look great even though they play in 480p. That info is just for those of you who probably like me felt like you had to have it all at once. You don't. The Z series is the best of the bunch and my husband loves it. There are many features that come with this version a man will appreciate. So if you are looking for a Christmas present for your man this is a great one for the price. Not to mention he will love you forever as all my husbands friends were shocked a wife would buy an item for a man and actually get it right!

Also for comparison sake, my brother has a Samsung 55 inch LED. It is nice for his big room, but I don't like the high gloss on the Samsung. Beautiful picture of course. He paid three thousand for it and I paid one thousand three hundred something for our Sony Bravia. Budget wise the Sony Bravia Z series is a perfect price. I will wait for the LED to go down. All our speakers, receiver and all that is Sony and my husband likes Sony. Amazon has the best prices for pretty much everything. I shop on line for 99% of my purchases and I compare prices everywhere. For your first flat screen tv the Sony Bravia Z series is the best. We love it!

I've been extremely happy with this TV! The 240Hz makes a world of difference.

The size and glare issues were the key drivers for finding the right TV, and after experiencing some serious problems with glare from many very nice high quality Plasmas, I decided to settle in on finding the right Flat LCD. Others were good, like Sharp and LG, but the reality was Sony had the best quality image, color, contrast, etc.. when receiving an HD source so it closed the deal. Lots of input capabilities as well.

A spectacular TV well worth the investment if you like sports, movies and general high quality video viewing... a lot of fun and I guess one more vice now.

Happy viewing with your new flat no matter what you choose - - its truly a whole new world when you spend the extra bucks to upgrade to high quality, high def....

I reviewed Televisions for a while. We had a 32" Samsung which we liked, so it was between those 2. I was partial to the Sony though. When our switch went out on our current TV we had to get a one faster than we thought we would. I ordered this one and I have not been sorry. The picture is beautiful. It looks like you are there in some of the scenes. My husband has raved about it, which is unusual. The sound is good, but we plan to get surround sound soon, so it was not that big of a deal. We had not had such a large TV before, but it fits our room well and is so clear that I can see it while I am cooking in the kitchen. It was a great buy at a great price. We were in Best Buy and the same TV was $2000 on sale. It is easy to view my picture on it after I take them with the USB port also. Very Pleased.

I have had this television for about a week now. So far, I am thrilled. The picture is fantastic - I feel like I can reach right in and touch the people on the HD channels. I am not an ultra-techie, but it more than serves my purposes. My husband took about 15 minutes to get it set up from opening the box (delivered very quickly, btw) until we were watching. At first I thought the sound was a bit off, but after tinkering with the settings and getting to the simulated surround sound, I now think it's great. I know some people say you should have higher than 60hz with a TV this size and maybe they're right, but after a weekend of watching regular programming and football I don't think I could be any happier with the picture.

I have tried all of the possible aspect ratios and the problem is still there. I have not made a big deal out of it because I do not want my daughter to become dissatisfied. However, I thought that you should know.

I am sure this TV would be more than I expected in every way. When I discovered I had to screw the stand into a tabletop or stand in order for the TV not to fall over that was unacceptable to me. I use a large antique bureau to put my TV's on and to wreak the beautiful solid walnut surface by inserting a screw was unthinkable. I wish I knew beforehand since it costed me $[...] to send it back. My daughter and I tried to think of other ways to secure the stand but it would have looked terrible.

i bought this TV on some sale amazon had for 868.00, and i am positively thrilled with it. The screen is gorgeous and my blu-ray movies have never looked better. Plus, playing my xbox 360 or Playstation 3 in 1080p is priceless. It came virtually assembled, so pull from the box, plug in and away you go.

I DID have one issue. I own a DirecTV HD DVR, and for some reason or another, the TV interferes with the RF signals from all of my remote controls. A bizzare issue to say the least. I thought my DTV box was damaged, but it wasn't. After some internet research, I had learned that certain TV's can do this. If you disable this TV's auto-brightness setting (and you can do this by changing the overall picture scheme from auto to standard, or game or movie) it stops the sensor which causes the issue. I am tech savvy, but not an engineer, so I dont know why it does this. Apparently, certain Samsung TV's do the same.

Amazon did a great job getting it across the country as well. My wife and I love this TV!

Great picture with 2 major problems:

The remote control for my cable box won't work for the first 10 minutes after the set is turned on. [cable box is comcast] (Others have had same feedback) It may not sound like a big deal but having to turn your TV on and off every time you want to change channels gets annoying really quick.

The HDMI inputs have trouble detecting video output from my cable box and DVD when the TV is first turned on. In order to get a picture I have to hit the "input" button 40-50 times until finally the set decides to start displaying video. Said differently, every time I turn on my TV I need to basically "jump start" it so I can get a picture. (As I understand this is a software "handshaking" issue)

Phone support was no help. I've spent hours on the internet and found nothing to solve either problem. There is no firmware fix for this so I have a tec coming out to my house to try and resolve.

If I had to do it over again I'd go with a better brand that has already invested the time in working out the bugs in their software.

I wanted to create a review for this TV, but also wanted to vent as I had trouble with Circuit City over it's delivery and I cannot put this review into their site because it contains a company's name (big surprise). I bought this TV mainly because of the great price and great reviews I found while searching for many months. I'm very glad to say that the TV more than lived up to the hype. This is my first HDTV so I may be biased, but it looks incredible. Very clear and crisp from every angle, video games look great, and movies are mind boggling! It also has low glare from the multiple lights in our living room and the base and border look great! My only issues were due to the poor customer service from Circuit City and I would advise buying anything big from them as it will only cause you heartache. If you can find this TV elsewhere at a good price, I would get it!!

I purchased this because consumer reports rated it a " Best Buy" Saying it had picture that rivaled many more expensive models. This model beat out Sony, LG, Samsung, Sharp and other big brands in its category.

Reviewers even said the picture quality rivaled LCD's costing over $2,000.

I already have a Toshiba and a sharp Aquos. I love my aquos so much and didnt think picture could get much better on an LCD.......well I was wrong. This Regza blew it out of the water. The Blu-rays look stunning.

I wish more channels broadcast in full 1080p. Most HD channels broadcast in 720p which is a rip off by the industry and short changes us who invest on great LCD's for optimal viewing.

I love playing Nintendo WII, Playstation and X-box on this...the 120hz technology keeps blazing fast picture crystal clear and not blurred as you would see with regular 60hz sets.

I just watched the movie 300 on blu-ray on this set to see how good the effects could be and I was Blown away.

I couldnt be happier and out of my 3 LCD TV's this is my number 1.

Beautiful picture. Attractive and sturdy.

This is "only" 720p (although it WILL accept a 1080P signal just fine) and not "120 Hz" but here are a few things to think about.

In 32", the pixel density is higher than a 52" at 1080p. Unless you use it as a computer monitor or sit very close, your eyes just can't pick up the additional detail. "120 Hz" is a buzz word and it is true that faster is better in LCDs but you need to look deeper. A low quality panel that is "120 Hz" will not be satisfactory. On the other hand, a high quality 60 Hz panel will be more than sufficient. Not to say there are not high quality 120z panels but the cost will obviously be significantly more.

In my opinion, this is a very high quality panel and spending more is a waste for the vast majority of people. I paired this with the Panasonic BD60 and the results are phenomenal. Up-scaled DVDs look gorgeous and I really don't think that you could tell the difference between Blu-ray from across the room (again, pixel density). Viewing angle is better than I expected, contrast is great, blacks are so black that you almost can't tell the difference in a dark room between the black next to the frame and the frame itself. Screen is slightly matted so reflections are manageable. Verdict is still out on the sound, these speakers are better than I was expecting but have not had it long enough to be sure if they can stand on their own in all cases (loud movie action).

It seems like there is a feature slope in televisions that it is hard to know where to buy in at. I have to admit that even after ordering this unit, I was unsure if I should have forked out a little more. After experiencing this, however, I have absolutely no regrets. I think that in a 32" it should be easy if you are able to separate yourself from the buzzword hype. Why pay for pixel density your eye literally cannot see? Even worse, why buy a "faster" panel that is poorer quality?

I purchased my LN32B460 model in July 2009. Everything was working fine , good picture as many reviews stated. I have no complaints about the set when it is working. This morning the power blink off for about 30 seconds and then came back on. Everything in the house came back on. Tried to turn TV on about and hour later and discovered that I had no power to the TV. Checked out receptacles and everything was fine. Called Samsung and was told that I would have to ship the TV to their service center. I've had the set for five month and no longer have the original box. I have no way to pack this thing up and ship to them. What a hassel. I offered to pay for the service call and they were still no help. I am so frusrtated with Samsung I could scream. This is the second Samsung I have purchased this year. I bought a 52" back in February and had to have the motherboard replaced in that unit. So, just wanted to say, "Buyer Beware",. These sets are great when they are wotking. From my experience, I am convinced that you will have a problem at some point in time. So save your original shipping carton because you will need it later. Don't expect much help from the Samsung service dept. They are pathetic. Samsung has lost a customer for life. There are many other quality brands out there to chose from. I would recomend that you check out the service deptartments before making your choice on a set.

I originally purchased a Sony KDL-325000 which I returned due to my dissatisfaction with its handling of SD signals, and the poor whites which I never could adjust to look accurate. This Samsung looks much better displaying standard definition broadcasts and, with its greater contrast ratio, has much better shadow detail than the Sony. The Samsung's whites are far superior and it even has deeper blacks, typically a Sony strong suit.

Unfortunately there are no free lunches. Another reviewer mentioned, and I agree, this tv has a problem displaying reds. After spending literally hours adjusting the picture controls using the AVIA test dvd, I still wasn't able to obtain accurate color and hue using the blue tinted filter. Subjectively the Samsung's colors look excellent, except that bright reds can sometimes appear as more of a darker, maroon color. Anyway, the effect is relatively mild and not nearly as distracting as the Sony's grayish whites.

Overall, I am quite pleased with the Samsung and plan to keep it. Just make sure if you purchase one of these sets to turn down the back light, which even in the "standard" and "movie" modes is much too high. I obtained the best picture with the backlight turned down to "3". Avoid the "dynamic" setting if you have any pretension at all of obtaining an accurate picture.

Just got this -- for FREE from Samsung. Let me explain. One year ago I bought the 330 series version of TV. I loved the picture and feaures, but it had a recurring sound problem that could not be fixed. Twice I put in a repair tag for the sound going garbbled, and twice Samsung dispatched a repair service (all the way from RI to MA)within a few days. They changed the mother board, among other repair attempts, but nothing worked for long. With my third repair ticket, without me asking, a Samsung rep phoned me the next day and offered a free replacement. (This was after a different rep had offered to extend the warranty for an additional six months, or until it was fixed.) A week later it was delivered to my door. And to my surprise, they gave me this new 460 series instead of the lower 300 model. Sure, it was a pain that my first TV was a lemon. But these are machines. There is NO manufaturer that produces flawless electronics always and forever. That's life. Nice to know that if it happens to your Samsung, you can expect exceptional customer service. There are reviews here saying Samsung customer service "sucks." That was certainly not my experience; they were always courteous, helpful, professional, and responsive. Oh, and this 460 is WONDERFUL, and noticably better than my 300 series.

"Samsung Vs Sony in 26 inch" 2009-12-19

Having tested side by side this model of samsung and the entry level sony I can say without a doubt the sony is better. I was disapointed for this to be the case because honestly, I wanted and expected the samsung to be better. The colors while bright and intense overall were not better than the sony. Every single movie i played in blu ray or standard dvd needed to have adjustments made to look normal. I would say about 75% of the movies I tried looked better on the samsung but 25% looked bad and unrealistic. The sony over all beats it hands down on all material. It may not be as sharp and vibrant, but over all it looks more natural and realistic and better for upscaled movies than the samsung. I spent many hours trying to calibrate this tv and just couldnt come up with any happy medium. While the black levels were deeper, the contrast was worse, ie, if it was dark on the samsung, it looks great, but when it was dark, it was over dark, and scenes in movies like the matrix or batman returns just looked unrealistic. I tried everything to correct this with the settings but no happy medium could be found. Go with the cheaper sony, and samsung, stop setting your tvs to look good in a bright showroom and spend some time getting them to look good in a dark bedroom where they will end up. oh did i mention the sound is really bad compared to the sony, especially when using the output from the tv to drive a small left and right speaker, the sound was a few milliseconds behind that of the tv speakers and you could hear a pronounced delay which was unacceptable. this does not occur on the sonys output. Now if you compare the same models in the 32 inch versions, the samsung is a much better tv

I bought this for the bedroom and wanted to keep it simple. Like most other reviewers - nice picture if you are not too far off vertical or horizontal. Internal speaker sound is poor. I tried using the headphone out jack into Boston Acoustic computer speakers and even with that setup it was difficult to get decent sound. Oddly, when you use the headphone out jack the tv senses it and then will not let you use the equalizer adjustment (it is grayed out). I think you can set the eq on the internal speakers and then plug into the headphone jack. I am trying to use a single remote and still have all of the tv functions including volume control. The L-R Audio Out and the optical out are fixed levels so you would have to use another remote to adjust volume.

The biggest downside for me is the inability to assign channel names or call letters. I use the C*cast cable system (without their box) so when Samsung autoprogram is performed all the stations are picked up as 4-1, 5-2, 89-3, etc. A few have call letters assigned but most do not. So it is unknown where CNN, TNT, etc are located until you manually select each channel, verify what you are seeing (CNN, TNT, etc) and then write them down. Samsung states in the User Manual "The names of digital broadcasting channels are automatically assigned and cannot be labeled." I don't know why they say this because it is just not true. Competing products do allow you to key in the names. My problem was that I could not find a 26" tv that I could key in the names and had a headphone out jack. The tv just needs to be thought out a little more.

THE PICTURE WAS CLEAR AND THE SOUND WAS AMAZING!! I HAVE IT HOOKED UP TO MY LOGITECH Z5500 VIA OPTICAL. DISH NETWORK HD LOOKS GOOD ALSO AND CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MY FIRST SAN JOSE SHARKS GAME ON IT!! After 18 months my older version of this television LN26A450C refused to power on. The red standby panel light glowed but turning on the television failed. This is caused by a defective 10-volt capacitor on the power board. A known and very common problem. Google 'Samsung LCD Capacitor' to find Youtube do-it-yourself videos and forum discussions on how to replace this capacitor yourself for less than $3.

Bought this TV after Black Friday and with free shipping (and installation which I didnt need) and no tax to a CA resident (usually another 10%) I figured it was a steal. I have not been disappointed with the picture quality. My PS3 for gaming has been great. And Bluray movies look great. The audio seems to be OK. A small bedroom so its hard to really get a good feeling for the power of the TV audio. The 120hz is good for video games but in movies it just makes everything look like fast motion and un natural. I have tried to find the Movie 24 fps mode but cant for some reason. Havent really looked at the manual though. Works well for PC gaming but text can be a pain on such a large screen at 1920x1080. Overall great picture quality for HD sources and 120 HZ helps in some cases. For $711 delivered and 1080p for 37" from a reputable company its a deal.

I basically bought this TV to use as a PC monitor. Between games and movies I wanted that "cinema" experience in my office, not just on the couch in the living room.

I chose the LG based on the stats and reviews. Overall it is a great TV, with easy to use menus and just about all the picture control a person could ever want. The picture control goes beyond most TV's options with LG's "expert" picture mode that lets you adjust much more than just contrast and color.

This TV is hooked up to the PC via HDMI and the PC recognized it immediately. It also gives the option of 24hz refresh rate (the pc recognizes it is a 120hz model that will run 24hz without pulldown), so there were two native resolutions available, 1080p/60hz and 1080p/24hz. It really isn't needed on a PC, but nice to know if you are running a blu-ray player it will accept the 24hz signal without issue (a PC will normally change to 24hz when fullscreen movies are played even if you have it set to 60hz).

The one issue I found with this TV is that there is no PiP. My 2-year old Vizio first generation LCD has PiP, why wouldn't a brand new 120hz model have the same? No PiP falls just short of a deal breaker, but I can live without it. The idea was to be able to watch TV in the PiP while browsing the net or working, but that is out the window.

I would like to say that most people are not going to like the "TruMotion" option that 120hz TV's offer. The LG TruMotion does work, but I have found that the picture is so surreal that it is uncomfortable to watch. This has been the case on every 120hz TV I have seen EXCEPT the Sony Bravia XBR series. The Sony engine just seems to retain the cinema feel while adding the additional smoothness to the picture. If you are on the fence between the two then definitely consider the Bravia, the price difference is worth it, expecially considering you will be keeping a TV like this for years. The TruMotion is great for sports though, it almost feels more like looking through a window than watching a screen.

The performance of this TV has been outstanding so far (excluding TruMotion). Just comparing it to my Vizio 47" 1080p 60hz there is a big difference. Tearing that was present in some movies and all games on the Vizio is completely gone with the LG. Scrolling and fast movement are very smooth and clear, and the color depth is outstanding. Movies really stand out in 720p or less and much of the graininess is gone vs my older Vizio. In 1080p the clarity of the screen stands out and even sitting only about 3-4 feet away it looks great.

The sound is good, but nothing great. There are options like voice clarity that I really like, it helps keep the volume reasonable and you can still hear voices from shows/movies very well.

The design is nice, there is a LED on the bottom that moves when you power it on, just a gimmick item that makes it look nice. The bezel is rather large, about twice the size of my Vizio 47", but in all honesty you don't notice it. The only drawback is the bezel is a highly reflective black and any light behind me reflects. Consider that when buying. The screen is not a glossy screen, but it does have a tiny bit of reflection to it... my guess is that the enhanced contrast ratio this TV has requires the screen to be darker making it reflect a little more than an older LCD might.

Overall a great purchase. There certainly is a difference in picture quality between this and older 60hz LCD's. Personally I rate the XBR Bravia LCDs a little higher, but you also pay for that difference. I know there are a lot of people like me looking to get an HDTV for use as a monitor, if you are then you will enjoy this TV. Just remember that you need to take at least a few hours and really set the picture how you like it because right out of the box it looks good but with some tweaking you can get this screen to do some amazing things.

I also want to add that Amazon shipped this TV out very fast and the Pilot carriers who delivered the TV were great (I also got free shipping). They actually called and delivered it on Saturday since they had so many Christmas orders from Amazon. I declined, but the Pilot driver offered to bring it into my house and unbox/power it up to make sure everything was working. If you are worried about having a TV like this delivered (like I was), you don't need to be.

Found this to be just what we wanted for our kitchen. It does take a few moments for the audio to come on, and the sound may be a little thin for some but these are minor negatives. It is a great size, the picture is good, easy to set up, we really like the white color, and it fits perfectly into the space we had. I WAS INTERESTED IN GETTING A WHITE 19" TV FOR MY BEDROOM. WHEN I FOUND THIS ONE I NATURALLY WANTED TO PURCHASE IT. AFTER I GOT IT HOME I WAS EVEN MORE PLEASED, SINCE IT HAS A LOT OF FEATURES THAT AREN'T DESCRIBED IN THE DETAILS. THE PICTURE IS VERY GOOD.

I wanted a small TV for the bedroom so I wouldn't have to use my boyfriend's obnoxiously huge gaming TV to play my Wii. His TV stretches and blurs the crap out of everything that isn't Blu-ray. I had to request a replacement when the first TV I received had a faulty stand that wouldn't adjust properly. It was stuck in the wall mounting position when I wanted to set it on my dresser. My boyfriend unscrewed the attachment to discover the mechanism was broken. If the stand doesn't adjust when you are pressing the button in back, the mechanism is broken so don't force it.

This TV is PERFECT ! We had an under cabinet TV in this spot for a year before the picture went fuzzy and basically was awful. We'd purchased a Samsung 22 for our condo and had high expectations for this one also. Exceded our expectations, HD in the kitchen is awesome, now the living room is vacant ! Only drawback is that we used the product description to modify the cabinet bottoms to accomodate the TV which was 5/8" smaller than in the description and we really didn't need to change a thing.
