I read good reviews on this flat TV/monitor and it was attractively priced. The form factor looked decent as well. However, as soon as I played a movie, it looked really grainy and edges were jagged.
When I connected a computer through HDMI the image looked terrible. When the same computer is connected to a Dell 2409 though (with the same HDMI cable), the image on the Dell looks sharp and crisp.
It seems to me that they are doing some kind of processing on the video signal, perhaps chroma sub sampling, which results in characters appearing jagged, with a halo around them. Thin lines look thicker than they should be, and don't even talk to me about web pages containing small text. Depending on the type of chroma sub sampling they are doing, this reduces the effective resolution by a factor of 2 or more. I can't confirm this is chroma sub sampling, but it looks like it. I haven't gone through checking whether it only takes YUV as input or RGB.
Selling this product as a "1920x1080 resolution" monitor and "brilliant" display is just a marketing lie. Even if the actual resolution of the LCD panel is 1080p, the image processing that they are applying to the input signal makes it look more like a 960x540. Furthermore the initial setting out of the box looks a bit soft and way too bluish.
As a cheap TV it may be ok, but other competing products from Samsung that I have seen at the same price show a crisp picture when connected to a PC.
My recommendation: there are better products out there. Don't buy this one. As for me I just returned it as it will not fit its intended use (mostly as PC monitor and sometimes as TV).

I recommend this TV for anyone looking for a good TV that's not too big. It also acts as an excellent monitor. It came with no dead pixels and it looks great. The picture is perfect. Sound quality isn't great but I've never owned a TV that had great sound built-in. Get some surround sound speakers.

I gave this to my son for a birthday present after his tv died. He was too busy to open it up but when he did try it out, the picture quality was excellent. We are now trying to figure out a way for him to use it with his laptop for a monitor.

I keep this TV next to my computer monitors so I can watch while I draw or surf. It has excellent color and is very clear. It might not suffice for purists but for me it's excellent. I have DirectTV but not HD so can't comment on that. I also use it to watch DVD's which works out good. As a computer monitor I find it a little lacking in clarity compared to my ViewSonic 903 and 912 monitors, but that wasn't my purpose so it's fine. The price was good and all in all I am pleased. I have always gotten good use out of ViewSonic products.

I read lots of reviews before I bought this TV. One review said the sound was tinny? It's way not! I set mine to music and it sounds awesome, if you set to surround sound it's very loud. the tv is slow changing channels with just a coax directly into it, but I got a HD box from the cable company and since then it changes quickly and I have to admit the HD channels do BLING off the screen. Very awesome TV for an even better price!
No complaints, I love it and may consider buying a bigger Model for the living room. If you're like me and read a lot of reviews and are deciding what TV to buy. This is it!!! Buy it now. Trust me!
