"Love the Picture however it came with sound problems!" 2009-12-16
By Russell J. Wilson (Arnold, Ca)
First I can say I love the TV. Wonderful picture easy to set up, Delivered to the door in record time, however;

Lip Sync was off, kind of like watching a dubbed foreign movie on most channels (Some of the true HD music programs worked great)

First I called comcast, they came out.. tested everything.. Wasn't their problem!

Went on line saw many other complaints for the same problem. Went to the LG web site and opened a repair claim, 45 min chat with online help, was no help, said they would send out a repair person for a software update.. one week went by.. on line chat again trying to get a repair date.. All they said is the work order was in the system. I called LG several days later.. still no help??

Was getting ready to send the TV back to Amazon and then after 3 weeks I get a call from LG, They had to send the patch to the repair person, now after 4 weeks the repair person shows up, installed the update with some problems. Seems to work much better.

Sure glad Amazon extended their return times for the Holidays.. Just in case the problem continues..

 "Viewing Angle" 2009-12-15
By New Guy (New Jersey,USA)
Simple review:

PROS:

1- Easy to hook up.

2- The sound is very good .

3- No blurring while gaming or watching sports.

CONS:

1- VIEWING ANGLE VERY LIMITED WITH THIS TV.

HEAD ON SCREEN LOOKS GREAT HOWEVER YOUR VIEWING

EXPERIENCE DROPS OFF DRAMATICALLY EVEN AT THE SLIGHTEST

ANGLE.

This set was bought for the kids who will mostly use it for gaming.

So considering the location, the user's and the price I paid NOT a problem.

I would not recommend this as your main TV. For me my Samsung is the best no

matter what the angle.

"They Fixed The Audio Synch" 2009-12-11
By Margo Denning (Fanwood, NJ United States)
Got this back in Sept and noticed about a 1-2 sec audio delay synch in HDMI on TV speakers compared to when I use the speakers on my surround sound rcvr. Thru my rcvr the synch was perfect. Took about 6 weeks for me to get in their queue, but LG sent over a tech and he uploaded a firmware update via USB and now the audio is in synch. It matches almost exactly to the rcvr. Was happy before, b/c the sound synched with my rcvr speakers, but now I am even happier. Frankly, it's good to know they do take care of their issues!

Update Dec 11 - Also, before the firmware update, I tried the manual adjustments mentioned on some posts where you set the system synch to zero (it is defaulted to 20ms or something). But that really does only minimal improvement, almost none. The firmware update acutally did the job!

"People with lip sync problem, here is a fix" 2009-12-10
By Rommel Ramos (NY, USA)
"1) press and hold the menu button on the side of the TV then press and hold the menu button on the remote until the display says "Enter Password"

2) enter four zeros from the remote control to get past the password screen (you should now see an "IN START" menu with all kinds of information listed)

4) look at the lower left corner where there should be a numbered menu -- menu option 4 should say "System"

5) use the down arrow until the word "System" is highlighted (pressing the number '4' will not take you down the menu) and press the enter key (you should now be on the System menu near the middle of the screen)

6) press the down arrow to option 9 "Lip Sync Adjust" and then press the left arrow to adjust the value to zero (mine was set to 20 from the factory)

7) press the return key to get out of the menu and bingo, you're done!"

 "Great TV!" 2009-12-08
By IS (Brooklyn, NY)
This is my first HDTV, and doing some research helped. Never expected quality this good from LG, but I guess times have changed. My parents have Sony HDTV, and the picture on their Bravia is not nearly as good as this. With some minor adjustments, u can get perfect color balance and contrast! Make sure to use HDMI cable, no other type of connection will give you the same quality. HD channels look perfect, and even broadcast channels look good, which is no small achievement for an hdtv set. Sound is good, but I got a blue-ray LG system to go with LG 42LH40, and it rocks!
